People are driving like maniacs!

I only tailgate in left lane .

Tailgating in any lane is stupid and dangerous, even in the left lane.

Aside from that, it REALLY bothers me when I'm going as fast as I possibly can in the left lane and I have someone right on me.

Take the not uncommon hypothetical where I pull out to pass a semi going 65 only to get stuck behind one going 67. In that situation, what am I supposed to do? Unless I do something really stupid like pass in the shoulder, I'm not getting around the semi in front of me. I have another one to my right. I'm "boxed in" and it's going to be a minute or two before the one in front of me is in the right lane.

In that situation, what good will someone tailgating me do? I'm sure not going to go any faster, nor can I get over. I'm still within the "slower traffic keep right" law as I'm moving faster than the right lane, and I'm still within the "Keep right except to pass" law as I'm actively passing the vehicle on my right.

Yes, as soon as I can do so I'll either step on the gas or get out of the way(or both) but in the interim the only thing you being a few feet from my bumper does is make things super unsafe if something happened that I had to make an emergency maneuver in that lane.

Just now..

Yeah, I was going to say, in some areas it's just commonplace.
Exactly.
Especially since these are country rural roads often without a shoulder to pull over on and no right lane to get over to.

These jerks tailgate no matter what speed you go.

And no place for them to pass you either.

I'm not sure I could move to the suburbs, driving is such a chore now. I like wide open spaces, but don't mind crowded cities, at least I can walk or bike. but suburbs with bumper to bumper?

Inconsiderate drivers are another big one. Folks are so absorbed in their own little bubbles they are totally oblivious to anyone around them.
I like to go fast on the interstates. I occasionally find someone who won't move right and insists on blocking the highway. Big trucks are doing this regularly now, rapidly cutting in front of me, as they attempt to pass a slower truck. 35 side by side up a hill in a 70 zone is really common now.

If I could, I'd fly everywhere. The interstates really are full of the inconsiderate.

Conversely, I always, always, always let faster traffic go by. There are times when I am the slow one. I will pull fully off the road if there is no way for others to easily pass me.

Agreed
Problem from MD to FL. is the right lane is so rough from all of the trucks and even in the right lane you get tailgated
The left lane theory is a joke. Go 100 mph and someone will get behind you and flick the lights.
People just need to slow down

Just drove 600 miles from GA to OH

Had several cases where POS vehicles running 95-115 mph in groups running up, across lanes and then running into traffic to have to slow down then rinse and repeat.

A few years ago, Georgia passed a law requiring slower traffic to keep to the right (I always thought that was already the law). As a result, the slow lane is the least used lane and slow drivers are everywhere else. Politicians pass laws and think that will solve the problem, but without enforcement it is a waste of time. Driver's are like children-they like to see what they can get away with and if they don't get their hands slapped it just encourages them to try more.
