It's worth the extra 4 bucks just to see the Honda/Acura and Corvette approvals on the bottle.

Is it really, though? I just don't think so. In the grand scheme of protecting your engine those labels don't really mean anything. The QSUD is the better value and the better oil. IMHO, of course.

How is it a better oil if those labels don't really mean anything?

I get a 5 quart jug of M1 HM for 24.50...

I just moved to M1 HM from max-life, as the new prices are only $6 apart....when it was over $10 apart it was easier to buy the max-life, now I can't resist the m1 HM, I always wanted to try it, and now I will with the next OCI.

All oil has jumped a bit in the last year. Even my favorite house brand went up a whole dollar/quart. Since crude is the sauce that makes Oil, Gasoline, and Diesel, it logically would be climbing a bit.

thats ok pennzoil priced themselves out of my range and many others agree...
In reality any sn oil will protect you engine very well and maybe better

Last day of sale, PYB at $2.59 in qts. at Kmart.

Even better, or worse, Castrol GTX went from $13.50 to $18.50 a jug this week at Wally. A $5 a jug increase to put GTX back to it's typical place in this area, as the highest priced dino at Wally.

I just got the new Walmart ad in the Sunday paper. They have Pennzoil and Valvoline for $14.50 and the GTX is $17.00. Mobil 1 is $23.00.

So with a good filter, like P1 or Bosch premium, the Penzoil oil change will cost you about 23 bucks. I'll spend the extra $7 for M1 with an M1 filter at autozone, when they run the sales.

I'll just enjoy my 4 cases of citgo supergard synthetic blend that I picked up for $1.09 per qt!

Buying oil at retail prices just isn't for me!

Never paid retail price for oil for more than 20 years. The only fluids(once every few years) I paid retail price were brake fluid, MTF and Differential Fluid for S2000 and ATF for E430.

Got a case of each in my stash, $1.99/qt. Hard to beat...

Where are you getting oil at below retail?

And as these prices are jumping, whats the consensus on long-term costs , and would it be worth it to hoard 1-2 years supply if we see a killer price?

I bought oil when it was on sale and with rebate(s), most of my stash are Synpower, M1, PP and PU some was as low as 49/qt after rebate, the most expensive is PU 0W20 at $19 a case of 6 quarts.

where do you get it wholesale?
I get it wholesale in drums at the shop i use conoco it is great oil but sometimes its easier to change the oil in my driveway with the 5qt jugs from a store ... My shop is an engine shop and i have 4 bays but only 1 lift and it is always filled up with cars from customers

Whats a drum cost nowadays anyways? My dad used to buy 55 drums of Rotella 15W-40 at Sams club for <$300 when I was a kid. What do those same drums cost now?
