Walmart Canada's website is nowhere near the useful tool that U.S. Walmart's is. Their "in stock" information is regularly dead wrong, including referring to products that aren't sold as in stock, or products that are there by the pallet load as out of stock. They got rid of the Frams here by actually removing them from the shelf (no closeout sale), yet the website says the opposite, that they were cut to $4 a piece.

Thanks for the replies!

I just noticed that the walmart in bellingham didn't have the price tag for the PU 5w20/5w30 5qt bottles.. only had the PU 10w30 5qt tag left and all the remaining PU price tags are not yellow.. which the sales associate said that its on clearance/phasing out?

If its between Pennzoil Platinum and Castrol Edge? which one would be better and would both of those oil be able to do 10k KM oci easily?

Looks like I'm a lucky one. Both Walmarts near me sale PU and PP in 5 quarts judges. However only one of them sales the PP in 0w20. Sometimes they are out of stock but it comes back in, in a week or so.

Walmart bellingham is the closest walmart here from Vancouver canada that carries PU ...i think the next one would be in Marysville which is another 50-60miles..then walmart in burlington which is in between Marysville and bellingham doesn't carry the PU .. I guess i ahve to wait and see what happens... hopefully they would stock PU or i have to find it somewhere else

Wonder if NAPA or Oreilly carries PU and sells it a decent price?

+1....totally agree

There are few questions easier to answer. If you are in Bellingham, you are not far from Mount Vernon, one of the few places west o.f the Rockies where you can buy Schaeffer motor oil. Here (click). I would put Schaeffer Supreme 7000 #704, a semi-synth 5W-20, up against any full synth any day, and it is merely the little brother to Schaeffer 9000; Schaeffer 9003D 5W-30 full synth just may be the best 5W-30 oil that you can buy, anywhere.

If you have not heard of Schaeffer, then you must have been born before 1830; Schaeffer, still under the same family ownership, has been around longer than any oil company, long before John Rockefeller, long before Royal Dutch was a gleam in its parents' eyes, and Schaeffer has been cutting edge in R&D its entire history.

I wouldn't get hung up on obtaining ultra if it isn't convenient. Walmart has pp and PYB on sale all the time. Both are great oils.
If you are going to follow the oil life monitor on the vehicle then conventional is what that olds is programmed for,so use whatever conventional is on sale when you go to do the oil change.
Conventional will easily go 5000 miles unless its an extreme duty cycle,or unless specified by the automaker.
I posted a thread when both castrol edge and qsud were both on sale for same price at Walmart. The qsud had a stronger add pack on paper, and was more popular than castrol, not that popularity has anything to do with quality.

Mobil if you wanted to extend the drain to 15000 miles, the only castrol I will use is German castrol inn the 0w-30 flavour so if that's the flavour you need you can't go wrong with it and pp is my go to oil. It can always be found on rollback at Walmart cheap and it can do a 10000 mile interval in most low stress applications.
I'd use the most cost effective,as in cheapest since they are all good products

SOunds good! i would just usually follow the oil life on both of our cars.. so i dont think it would go over 10k KM ... so i guess i can just go with PP if i can't get PU..

Pennzoil Platinum, Castrol Edge Syntec, Valvoline SynPower or any other suggestion? Planning on just following the oil life monitor in both of the cars so i just want to use a decent synthetic oil...
M1 EP $27 for 5 quarts at wm.

Google may be one's friend, but one's friend may lead one to a marketing blurb.

I believe the base stocks are different, with the Ultra having more expensive base stocks, and all the talk about either GTL Group III+ or Group IV. The biggest difference between the two (other than price) is that you can never find Ultra up here, but Platinum is easy to find.
