I just have a question about the Pennzoil Platinum HE Oil Filter #HPZ-37. I have one of these and it is much smaller in its overall size when compared to OEM and the other aftermarket filters I have used; that is, the overall diameter of the can/base is considerably smaller. When placing the base of the Pennzoil filter against that of OEM and other filters, the gaskets do match up perfectly .... On the Pennzoil filter, there's just pretty much no space between the gasket and the edge of the can. When I saw its size, my first thoughts were that there is not as much room for the oil to flow and the amount of media is probably less. It is spec'd for my car and it does fit, but I was just wondering if the size difference will matter (will it cause any issues with flow, pressure, etc.). It's probably just fine, but I just wanted to ask other's opinions. I know that the bypass valve pressure of the filter is 14-18 psi, which is not a problem.

It's a Fram 6607 / 7317 comparable.

To save costs, they only make the short one (6607) and sell it as both.

Advanced Auto DriveWorks filters do the same thing....

Some filter brands spec the smaller filter for the larger 7317 size, like STP for example. It's probably to cut costs by manufacturing one filter that fits both instead.

Yes, the HPZ-37 fits/is spec'd for my Hyundai Elantra.

^^^ I believe the above two responses explain the reason for the small size of the filter. I'm sure it's fine, but I just wanted to ask for some opinions about this. I probably won't buy one of these again in the future though.

Thanks for the replies ... I appreciate it
