FRAM filters, for the most part, no longer good?

Just doing some quick reading here and that is basically what I am gathering, Fram quality has slipped again? I used to run Carquest filters but years ago (I forget how many?) the quality of those went down hill and the latest, at that time, was FRAM was good.
It now seem Carquest filter (Blue Premium's) are top notch once again and Fram has fallen off again?

I normally run the TG's in my Ram Hemi 1500 and Ultra's on my wife's 17 Impala, but, based on the bit of reading I've done, I should go back to using the Car Quest blue Premium's??

The last filter I recently put on, an XG10575 on my wife's Impala, came without a gasket. 1st one ever that I remember but I did purchase it on Amazon which now has me a bit worried if it was real or a knockoff? Still running the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum in both vehicles, which I plan on continuing to do. It's the Fram filters that are now concerning me. Over thinking it or am I reading this right?

If you buy one just look at the adbv first. Some are misaligned

It's too broad a brush to say all Frams are bad; that's patently untrue. And it's not like Fram stands alone in the "quality challenged" arena these days ...

I like and use Fram "CH" (cartridge) filters because I can inspect them prior to use. I have used EGs, TGs and XGs all with good luck.

fram can’t stamp a leaf spring to save their life at the moment. the carquest premium is made by premium guard and is the Extended life model. same filter found in the microgard select. they are top notch at the current time.
That's what I'm gathering. The quality seems like a rollercoaster. For a few years they seem good then drop off again then rinse and repeat. Going to look into the CQ one's again but I assume, based on past reading, the same thing happens with them. Thanks.

Too late for that now. I used the old gasket off the old one as I don't overtighten my filters and it didn't have a lot of miles on it. So far so good but the possibility of it being a fake concerns me now.

That would be nice, and what I also used to do with the cartridge type on my son's old Malibu. Going to look into the CQ ones and since I get a deal/discount, I will purchase 3-4 for each vehicle to do me for a couple years. Thanks for the info all. (y)

Sorry, forgot to ask. If I am not worried about extending the life, which I am not, is the regular CQ one good enough? Not many miles are put on either vehicle anymore due to both of us being retired, and I usually try to do 2 oil changes on my wife's 3.6 Impala (2017) per year and usually only 1 on my Ram 5.7 Hemi.

Carquest Premium or they are also sold at PartSource under their OE+ Pro moniker. The 5.7 HEMI filter is a PRS10060. I think the Carquest ones are a couple bucks cheaper.

for the very small price delta, i think having a silicone ADBV is worth it. plus the efficiency is better on the premium.

I guess someone returned the filter to Amazon without the gasket, then they resold it. I buy only from Amazon not third party, and they seem to be very fresh and probably right from the factory. If you contact Amazon, they probably will send another one or refund, go through support chat.

It was still sealed with that round piece of tape they use so not likely a returned one? I had to cut it to get the box open. Not worth the hassle now. It's on and the box got tossed, but thanks just the same.

I’d say CARQUEST red good for 4-5k. They have nitrile adbv. Premiums have silicone adbv

The average Joe will buy a Fram and run it probably with extreme new found loyalty and buy again...
Sometimes ignorance is bliss 😊

When the threshold for consumer satisfaction is that ones engine did not blow up using a FRAM, it makes sense the brand loyalty that follows it.
