Pennzoil ATF: why so hard to find?

With my general enjoyment of SOPUS products, and having read Johnny say that the Pennzoil ATF is a group II+, compared to Formula Shell and Quaker State being group II, I'm planning on using this for the next service on my Outback. I know Maxlife is a very popular replacement for my Dex III fluid, but I prefer SOPUS to Ashland.

Problem: I can find Maxlife EVERYWHERE and Pennzoil's ATF about nowhere. Or occasionally at O'Reilly's for $8 a quart. Now I can get Maxlife for under $4 a quart at WalMart, but WM never has more than the same 2 quarts of Pennzoil sitting on the shelf. I need a case of ATF for 3-4 drain and fills to get out the currently unknown miles and brand ATF.

Why does Walmart not want me to have my Pennzoil?

Our WM's cleared out M1 about a year ago, and now all they stock is SuperTech ATF. I was hoping for maxlife and didn't even get that. If you find it cheap, let us know.

I just bought 8 quarts of Castrol Import Multi ATF for under 3 bucks a quart at Advance auto with code ES123 or EM2, can't remember, if you're into that. I haven't used Castrol in a long time, but the price and product were right.

I'm not very sure about Subaru, you might want to find an ATF with JASO-1a as a listed spec. Similar to DexIII but with different friction properties.

I think my local WM just hates me. It seems whatever I go there for, they are out of stock.

Oreilly has it. For some reason it`s in the back and not on the shelf,as is their Synchromesh. I bought a quart of Pennzoil ATF to flush/refill my power steering reservior. They had to get it out of the back. Why don`t they keep it on the shelf?

I am also in the Chicagoland area and for whatever reason some Walmarts have a bunch and some none at all. I considerd using it but went with Maxlife. I know I have seen Pennzoil ATF at local Target stores, but I know they only had a few quarts on the shelf.

I saw about 6 quarts on the shelf in my local Walgreens. Didn't check the price.
There are enough Walgreens around that if the price was good, you could probably put together all you want in about 2 blocks from your house anywhere in the US.
