When I think of a product that has been bulletproof these are.
I have 3 and they are from 23-25 years old and used daily with no issues ever.
These were the largest sized countertop models. Amazing products.

The old cordless landline phones were the same..

We've got one of those Panasonic inverter microwaves as well, probably around 20 years old. Currently in storage, but hopefully still works.

i have a panasonic microwave, 20 years and still going strong. it is quite large. one of my most trusted piece of equipment i own.

Yeah it's there and I am starting to appreciate how great they are especially in these days of short lived expensive appliances

We've gone through a series of Panasonic microwave ovens. They don't last 5 years in our hands. They've had a variety of failures, some just quit, some went out with a puff of smoke and sparks flying.

We bought one of them from Sears a few years ago and bought their extended warranty (which we never buy) because it was for 5 years and we knew it would never make it to 5 years. True to form it quit 2 weeks before the warranty was up, so we got a new (slightly larger) one for a small cost. They wanted to know if we wanted an extended warranty on the new one. Nope, we said, the microwave won't last 5 years but neither will Sears. And true to form they didn't.

We have a Panasonic microwave built into our kitchen cupboards and a spare (identical) model in the basement.

My parents have everything Electrolux and sometimes they have failures by it. I got a lot of my stuff from Frigidaire their sister company and I have had anything but luck. It just depends on who's working. I used to hear the best day to buy anything where is the days that people worked on Wednesdays

We go through Microwaves like Grant through Richmond.
We have an issue because we have a Microwave shelf, thus limiting choices.
We like 1000+ wattage, which didn't used to be an issue.
It is now, because the only ones that we can find anymore are generally in the 700-750 range.
Used to be able to find a Panasonic that would fit the bill. No more.
They generally lasted in the 5-6 year range, much like the others we found.
Have had Panasonic, Sharp, and Samsung. All have been in the 3-5 year range.
Last 2 we had have been 1100 watt Frigidaires. Both almost made it to 5 years.
Not sure that the make really matters much.
There is little question in my mind that all the names farm out manufacture of them.
Couldn't get my hand on another Frigidaire, so I had to punt.
At present, we now have a 950 watt GE, which was picked up as a Black Friday special.
It does what is required, although I seriously doubt any remarkable longevity.

The atomic powered freighter NS Savanna has one of the first microwave ovens…

In 1947, Raytheon built the "Radarange", the first commercially available microwave oven. It was almost 1.8 metres (5 ft 11 in) tall, weighed 340 kilograms (750 lb) and cost about US$5,000 ($56,000 in 2018 dollars) each. It consumed 3 kilowatts, about three times as much as today's microwave ovens, and was water-cooled. The name was the winning entry in an employee contest.

I really wanted to like my new Panasonic microwave but I'm going to replace it as our primary. It does a terrific job heating food, very fast and very evenly. But I can't stand several things. There's no way to turn the sounds off, so it always beeps. The interior light is just ugly, a cold, bare led of probably 6000k makes the food look awful. "Quick 30" isn't; you still have to press Start. The blue display is really hard to read. And the buttons 1-6 don't automatically start for that number of minutes. I knew these things before buying it and thought "oh I can live with that since it will work so well." But I just can't. It's going to the basement and I will get a GE or Toshiba for the kitchen.

My parents microwave quit a few years ago. My dad and I pulled the panel off and re soldered a couple of connections so far so good.

I'm on my third Panasonic inverter full size full power microwave. I get 15-20 years out of them. The 30-40% power setting makes leftovers edible. IMO YMMV
