So the Panasonic stainless Microwave we bought last year just fragged its inverter from the looks of things and the cost of replacing it is more than it is worth. Not too happy with Panasonic at the moment....

Anyway, I was thinking of getting a GOOD microwave, like this Miele one:

Anybody have experience with it?

Should be a year warranty on the Panasonic. Have your receipt? See if you can get a new one for free. Even if slightly over the period call corporate. They should make things right.

Well, thats a good thing then! I might actually look at one of those, since the one I have seem to not heat things up as well as it used to.

No receipt according to my wife. I did register it, will try and dig that up, as that should give me date of purchase.

Yeah, maybe...but you can bet the internal components are. That is way overpriced. I have a Panasonic microwave in my office I bought in 1980. Still going strong.

Check if your credit card includes the additional one year warranty.

I claimed a kettle through Visa recently. Very simple.

Very nice. I love our Miele vacuum. Question is if the innards are sourced from the same sweatshops...

Maybe they are, maybe they aren't. All Miele stuff is expensive, but it tends to be incredibly well made as well.

The microwave that the Panasonic replaced was an old "Showerwave" and that thing had to be 15 years old. They don't make them like they used to.

Some "luxury" brand name appliances are a waste of money. I've had a few of these overly expensive appliances that came with homes I've purchased and they are either poorly designed, bad performers or unreliable.

Some of this is down to home builders getting what they can in bulk at the best price which are often the products that nobody is buying.

A little research gets me better performing replacements at a fraction of the cost. The oven that I got for $300 - $400 10 years ago was an amazing performer with top of the line features and controllability that knocked the socks off the Siemens it replaced.

The wife can't wait for the supposedly $5k GE Monogram fridge freezer to die.

Currently have a 2.2 cf Panasonic Genius Prestige. Best performing microwave I've ever used. I love the defrost. However, quite possibly the most unreliable. Have had a couple in just a few years. Seems like two years tops. Very sad.

LOL! Most microwaves are on SMPS now...

Q.

My dad has a magic chef at his shop its 30+ years old and no rotating plate.

It also takes about 3 min to get a 8oz coffee@room temp. upto can burn you hot.

My Monogram 42" fridge is 13 years old and still like new. The trick to them is to clean the compressor and condenser with a vacuum and keep the dust out. The compressor has a 12 year warranty of you didn't know.

I currently have a Sharp drawer microwave which I love. I found it is rebadged in higher brands like Viking and others if not all.

Be wary what you are buying.

Thank you Trav, so far you and JHZR2 are the only guys who have technically answered my question about owning Miele products and what they are like, LOL!
