In the context of capitalism--> if, including importation taxes, shipping, etc. works out to be cheaper than producing them in Wisconsin, then that's where the assembling/manufacturing goes.

How many Miele appliances have you used? I'll give you that Bosch and Electrolux appliances are overpriced and overrated, but Miele is not.

To write off "European appliances" is akin to saying all American made appliances are low quality.

I have Speed Queen Washers and driers with coin boxes, the quality is very good, SS drum, direct drive all metal gear box.
Not a lot of frills but durable as it gets, good old school American quality. Even the coin boxes take a beating.

This thread prompted me to search for commercial microwaves on Amazon and there are some that look quite interesting.

I also don't agree that Bosch is always overrated and overpriced. I have a Bosch dishwasher that I bought for a very good price and have been very happy with. It's the lower-priced Ascenta series. It works great and is very, very quiet. And I didn't pay any more than I would have for a comparable Whirlpool or other brand. The Bosch was made in the USA.

I will say the Electrolux appliances my in-laws bought recently are not impressive. Their Electrolux dishwasher is made in China. But my made-in-Hungary Electrolux vacuum is incredibly quiet and well made, and I've been very happy with it.
