Did you get the drain plug off and did you buy a new one before you removed the current one? Keep us posted.I seem to have an overtightened, by me, drain plug. Any suggestions? Tomorrow morning I'll try the Visegrips and a hammer. Thanks

I took it to a local shop I use and they took care of it for $20
It's better them than meI took it to a local shop I use and they took care of it for $20 .
Here's what someone did (not mine, seriously); over tightening ATF drain plug . . . I learned not to overtighten.
Ouch, that would bring me to tears. And it broke right at the threads so you can't repair/weld it.Here's what someone did (not mine, seriously); over tightening ATF drain plug . . . I learned not to overtighten.
wow thats worse than an oil pan. Here's what someone did (not mine, seriously); over tightening ATF drain plug . . . I learned not to overtighten.
I tighten by hand until it feels right then check with a the torque wrench set to the recommended torque. It's always a bit tighter than I would have made it.I read this post a few days ago so, for fun, set my torque wrench to 28ft/lbs (like some Google searches say, not sure if it's accurate) and tightened my oil drain plug. It's way more force then I normally use with only a 3/8ths ratchet.
Very intelligent move. I can't remember how many times I've turned to my mechanic friends for assistance in difficult situations. Some people work harder, some people work smarter. With experience and age comes wisdom.I took it to a local shop I use and they took care of it for $20
And if I can thread in the drain bolt by hand it goes in the trash.
