I ordered Brembo blanks and the EBC Redstuff for my Escort zx2. I am hoping to get better stopping performance, even if it's just slight, it is worth it. The car has always had HORRIBLE stopping power. I have the factory MC rotors and Autozone Duralast pads on at the moment.

you'll be pleased with the improved stopping power. i have brembo blanks and ebc pads on the camry and i love them. they were noisy for a few thousand miles but eventually it went away.

You'll definitely enjoy the improvement. Just make you bed them in properly. I know EBC is very particular with their new rotors and require no panic stops (unless you have to for safety) for the first 1k miles. I would assume the same goes for their pads as you normally changed the pads with the rotors at the same time like you're doing.

GL with the install!

I've been using the EBC Yellow stuffs for the last 5 years or so. No squeals and great brakes. Easy on the rotors too.

I don't know those pads, but I DO know ZX2s.
Most anybody's premium pads will feel like larger brakes were installed.
See what the friction ratings on the side of the pad are.
Hopefully, FF or better. [EE is worse, GG better]

And what about the rear drum brakes? Make sure they are free and lubed up.
If things are perfect [including the P brake system] , try tightening the brake lever so it engages quicker. This will make the shoes engage quicker, and believe me, the felt improvement is great! Just make sure the shoes release completely when you are done.
And why do this? The stock wedge adjusters leave too much movement before the shoes engage. This is common with almost all drum brake self adjusters.

Glad to hear a happy client. But please note that the formulas vary, not all "red", "green", or whatever "stuff" is the same from platform to platform.

Just like tinted oils, color has little to do with the performance.

"...try tightening the brake lever so it engages quicker."

Can you expand on this a little? Do you mean that you take up some slack by overtightening the parking brake, or are you referring to the play in the brake pedal itself?

The Yellow Stuffs I've used in the past provided superb performance and were silent, but the dust was extremely corrosive. Make sure you wash your wheels regularly.

Fresh brake pads will always feel better for several months. But truth is, I would not expect a day and night difference in the long-run.

Having the system flushed and bled, and calipers cleaned and lubed regularly will have a greater effect on maintaining top performance.

Mechtech is correct. I had a '99 ZX2 and the brakes were awful until I tightened up the parking brake and then they were great - literally a night and day differnce!

Why post this? You are wrong.
