Ordered a 2021 RAM 1500 Limited today. Replacing a 2020 Laramie.

Delmonico red, indigo/frost interior, regular HEMI. Only extra options the BUG and engine block heater. MSRP $62,985. I decided against the 33 gallon gas tank, and the Advanced Safety Group.

Went to a larger local dealer to look at colors one last time. They had Patriot Blue, Delmonico Red, and Magnetic Steel all literally next to each other. Those were the ones I was considering. Just something about the red that draws me in. They had a red Limited with black interior that I sat in and it is just so dark with the entire interior, including headliner, being black and makes it feel small. I sat in a red Limited with the indigo/frost a couple days ago (went 75 minutes each way to see it, that was the closest with that interior) and liked it, but they didn't have another Limited to sit in with black interior to compare side-by-side.

I just did the buying process in Sept (didn't order, though), so this time was easier.

Carvana is $49,700 now on my trade, up $1,000 in two weeks. Phillip in WA state was $54k exactly before incentives. But factoring in shipping and sales tax benefits of trading, I am about even or maybe slightly ahead going with a dealer 50 miles away. And much, much, much less hassle.

My deal...

Invoice - holdback, which is $55,867 on the $62,985 MSRP, minus incentives.

Incentives sold order locked, so I get the best of now or at delivery. Right now it is 0% for 72 plus $500. 0% saves about $2500 vs the 1.99% I can get at my credit union and have on my current truck.

Trade: $47,650 for a 2020 Laramie. Could go higher if the market keeps going the way it is, but this is locked in as a minimum. MSRP was $55,135 and paid about $43,500 new in Sept.

$379 doc fee (most around here are $250-$300).

I will get another code for PenFed $1,000 and submit for the $250 Bonus Drive again.

From my Laramie I will transfer the ProX15 tonneau cover, front dash JBL speakers, K&N cabin air filter, AEM oil-less engine air filter, Weathertech mud flaps, and the RAM all-weather floor mats (even though they are black and don't really go with the indigo/frost interior). Will try to sell the nerf bars I put on.

Overall very happy with the deal. Only had to put down a $500 refundable deposit. One other dealer was invoice - $1500 (holdback is $1800+), and would not lock in a minimum for the trade. Several others would only go down to invoice. Was looking at a Laramie but wouldn't get the same deal (invoice-holdback) on a locate, and that is if the other dealer would trade. I would have needed to put about $1,000 into the Laramie to add features it didn't come with that I would want. Considering this and the not getting invoice-HB on a locate, it was only a couple thousand difference at most even with the slightly better incentives on Laramie (0% plus $1250), so a no brainer.

Seems like you’re doing pretty well on that. Were there major changes from 20-21?

be sure to post pics!

Hmm......... I tried to order a RAM 1500 Classic a month ago and was told you can't order one. This was from a trusted ( ? ) dealer. Didn't go anywhere else to ask. Interesting.

Why are you trading in a year old truck that has the stuff you added to make it the way you wanted it?
Because he dislikes the etorque option on his current truck. I think that was the main reason.

On the other hand, I love mine. It smooths out the shifts. I have no issues with the regen braking or the start/stop. Then again, I’ve driven a Prius for 215K+ so I am accustomed to all of those features.

Man Congrats!!! That is the BEST truck on the market and the interior is UNMATCHED by anything else. I currently have a 2016 Ram Limited and love it having just over 90k miles with just one issue being an exhaust manifold leak under warranty. I will be in the market for another Limited maybe next year.

No major changes (except they increased price, of course). I am going from a Laramie to Limited, though. Was told delivery is about 8 weeks, but that seems optimistic to me.

Classics were the first trucks of RAM to have restrictions from the chip shortage. So that is probably why. Now they effect every truck and trim except Limited.

Yup, mainly etorque, small gas tank, and no navigation (not a fan of Android auto for a few different reasons, but always updated maps is nice). Still got a pretty good price on the new truck even with reduced rebates nowadays, good trade value with this crazy market, and going from paying interest (1.99%) to 0% saves a lot more. Would have custom ordered another Laramie but they are unavailable with Blind Spot/Cross Path until who knows when, and that was a must have. So I got an almost bare bones Limited.

My son bought a new Ram in December … other friends/family bought Ford and GMC … new units to new units? … they all have updated … Ram gets exaggerated here more than anything this side of thin/thick

Before buying my current RAM I test drove a few different new generation GMC/Chevy. Driving characteristics and interior don't compare to RAM, IMO. Plus I don't know how they are still using DI-only engines (vs dual injected) and the crappy 8 speed instead of the much better 10 speed developed with Ford. Well, I do. It probably saves them $10 per vehicle and GM needs that money for moving expenses to move more production to Mexico and China.

Had a 2018 F-150 that had a lot of problems and just in general had poor build quality, so was/am not going back to Ford. Actually looked at Toyota but the very high passenger seating position (and to a lesser extent drivers) was a deal breaker withouteven looking much into rest of the truck. Nissan is the worst of the bunch.

It was almost RAM by default, but it really is the best of the bunch. It is also by far the best value.

Makes me want to lean toward RAM when I'm in here reading posts. Was leaning heavily towards Chevy/GMC after 3 weeks of butt time in a '19 Silverado rental.

As I mentioned in a previous thread-I put 50 miles on a near new 2021 Silverado. It had the 5.3 and DSI systems that can make it run on as little as 1 cylinder. Quite frankly I was shocked how seamless that system was, as well as the Start/Stop. Im not sure if you didn't know the truck had this feature you could detect this otherwise. Yes-as far as interiors and ride (all though close as far as ride) it lags behind the RAM.

Think they all need to quit trying to make a “Bentley with bed” and not have brake pedals fall off … steering wheel disconnects and the many other sad recalls …

2020 ram built to serve edition I have done quite abit of seat time in.. its just great. driver, passenger, rear passenger.

Rides GREAT on our terrible roads. 0-60 in about 6s.

the only that it sucks is gas.. but thats not just a Ram thing.

edit more details:
its a bighorn level 2, hemi + all the built to serve edition stuff.

This is from a 10K review
From a repair standpoint, it is about what I expected - there have been some strange quality issues. First, I found a very loose nut on the engine cover mounting bracket that was not caught during PDI. Second, I experienced a small leak from the oil cooler/oil filter adapter assembly, a failed dust seal on the r/f wheel bearing assembly (which caused grease to splatter everywhere) and a stretched left-side tailgate cable. I have also experienced mediocre A/C performance during very hot days but FCA recently released a TSB outlining a resolution for this issue. To date, my dealer's service department has been excellent and resolved the oil leak, wheel bearing and tailgate cable issues to my satisfaction.
