Opinions needed about these homemade car ramps (pictures)

Or just build some wooden ramps,

I did much the same. These were "manufactured" from the scrap bin at my local Lowe's. Along with a lot of 3" drywall screws. And a half a bottle of Gorilla Wood Glue.

I found this Project Farm test of many different makes of commercial car ramps. It's a pretty good overall test. I was surprised that so many of the ramps slid along the concrete with rear wheel drive vehicles.

I couldn't tell if the finish of his floor was smooth or broomed, but I never had any issues with ramps in that regard. I do have the red steel ramps with the built in hydraulic jacks that he tested.

And they work well. But they are close in regards to clearance on my Toyota Camry, and that's why I went with the stepped up wooden ramps.

 
If you own a floor jack why not just buy some solid 4" concrete blocks? When I dropped the plastic shroud on my Mazda to do the transmission oil I drove up onto my normal wooden oil change ramps, then jacked each wheel up and added a block on top of the wooden ramps. On rough concrete with the parking brake set I couldn't rock the car at all.
 
I have been under good ramps which collapsed. The ground shifted under one and that’s all it took … side loads crumpled them like foil. Fortunately I was alert and in an easy place to roll out, and the car still had wheels on it of course. NOT what the OP is considering.

Solid Wood homemade ramps for me. And really, if the OP is doing this for major drivetrain work, ramps aren’t right anyway since they totally pinch off access. Blocks/jackstands allow side ingress/egress. Not ramps.

Mine moved on me with smooth concrete floors now that the garage has some age one it 3yrs old now. First 2 years were fine, same vehicle and rhino ramps, but now they slide. Idk, I may have to dig the metal ramps out or go back and build some new wood ones.
