OMG, wiper prices

Fwiw, agree with the posts mentioning getting/using refills where possible. Honda has refills and not long ago found out Nissan Rogue in extended family stable can actually use Honda refills. Nissan dealer didn't know about it, and unsurprisingly neither did AP stores. Some research required, but I ordered refills online for delivery.

As noted, check with dealer and specific vehicle forums to see if refills available, use original frame.

Otherwise, just have to shop around for best deal on type blade you want.

I miss the old days when you could get refills for your existing blades. Now there are all kinds of sizes and we have to throw out perfectly good blades and pay a lot of money for new ones. Not environment friendly.

For those complaining, I'm in agreement. But they wouldn't be that high if they didn't sell. Capitalism.

For those of you with a NAPA corporate store near you, keep your eyes peeled for their quarterly "NAPA Deal Days" sales (sometimes labeled a silly name like "Slam Dunk Deals" for March Madness). These are aimed at their commercial accounts, but many will also sell to individuals. They sometimes offer wipers in these sales at deeply discounted prices. Here is the recently expired sale where they had wipers as cheap as $2.99.

I'm stuck on Trico, I have had several sets of the Neoform over the years that work really well and last. Since they don't make the Neoform to fit my Lucerne I went with the Trico Force. One issue is having two different sizes which makes it harder to buy in pairs for better deals but found them at Amazon for a little less than $25 for the pair, about the same as buying one at AAP.

I replaced the OEM wiper blades almost immediately when I bought my 2007 Mazda 3 with PIAA silicone blades. I've replaced them once... in 14 years... with another set of PIAA. Current blades still working well!

After going through a bunch of blades and they only last like 6-8 months I decided to buy some PIAA's and they are really good. Going on 18 months or so now and no signs of slowing down.

Buying batteries, coolant and wiper blades from the two chains, AZ and AA is going to be a rip off. They know most people need those items NOW, and won't go elsewhere to comparison shop, so they know they can price them high and still sell plenty of those parts. I mean, if your car needed a jump start to get to Autozone for a battery, what are you going to do once you drive there for a battery? Wait for another jump so you can drive to some other place? Or, if your radiator is leaking coolant, will you risk overheating to drive somewhere else for cheaper coolant?
I don't buy new batteries, I've been using the same old batteries , a pile of them, that are from the 2000's and over, I just replace the battery acid and neutralize the old stuff with baking soda.

For people in the Midwest, Menards has a bunch of models under $10. If you really want to go bargain-basement, their SONTAX brand blades are currently 88¢ each.

A couple weeks ago I was running errands preparing for a trip. My last stop was Autozone on the way home for some last minute wiper blades to replace the factory ones on my 2018 f150. I figured I would buy good ones so I picked up some Bosch units but quickly put them back on the shelf after noticing they were 31.99 each. (65 bucks for wiper blades? No way!) Bosch has a few different types and honestly I cant remember which model they were but I ordered them online for 13.99 each. I havent purchased wiper blaeds in a few years but dang, I cant believe what retail prices are vs ordering online.
What gives?
I've found OEM Toyota replacement inserts the best deal. Or Aero on Amazon.

I should have kept the OEM wipers for my car so I could keep replacing the cartridge. I go through wiper blades every 3 months in the Forester. I have never had a vehicle that goes through wiper blades so much!

Ollies Closeout Store here usually has a decent selection of wiper blades in stock, various brands and types for a decent price.

I remember buying wiper blade refills for as low as 50¢ each 35 years ago. That was also when I could buy Hastings oil and air filters for $1. It's shocking how expensive wiper blades are today. Inflation doesn't explain most of the price increase.

Have you tried buying wood lately? :/
Yes, last year I bought an enclosed trailer and built some shelves inside. I was shocked 1 sheet of 3/8 sheething at lowes was 30 dollars. Usually, it would cost 12 dollars. I painted a room last weekend and three gallons of Sherman williams super paint was 50 big ones per gallon. sheesh!
Pretty soon I wont be able to afford to Pay Attention.

The Michelin wipers that Costco carries are always a good deal (even better when they go on sale), Rockauto has some great deals too but with shipping you need to buy more then just a couple wipers to justify the added cost.
