I am curious to find out- I found a couple of the old 1970's cardboard sided motor oil cans, one full, and in looking them over, all they said was "Motor Oil". Nothing regarding weight, winter, summer, nothing. And this was two different brands, one I think was some Sears brand and the other Pennzoil, but I am not sure. What weight of motor oil would this have been?

Just making a wild guess, but I would assume a 10W40, since that was the oil weight of choice for that era.
Can't say, the weight should be stamped or written on the lid.
lids had a fair amount of light rust, so maybe if it was painted it is now gone.
The old cans had the spec's in the lids.
