Oops, got it mixed up with 504 in my head. The owner's manual says either a 5W-30 or 5W-40 that meets either 502, 503, or 504.ESP does not have VW 502 00 approval.

My local dealer used 504 00 instead of 508 00 per my request during the free oil changes. Run Mobil 1 ESP 0W30. I would agree that 0w30 ESP is fine, but I wouldn't recommend ESP 0w40 or PPE 5w40 now, pricing and supply have become much worse. Autozone stopped doing the 5qt + filter bundle for 0w40 ESP here and PPE 5w40 completely sold out locally a month ago--online prices are approaching 2x the cost of 0w30ESP/0w40FS.Run Mobil 1 ESP 0W30. WHile Mobil1 0W40 is exceptional oil, I think latest version is bit diluted comapred to previous ones. If you want 40 grade, go Mobil1 ESP 0W40 X4, or Pennzoil Platinum Euro 5W40 (VW502.00).

They were new bottles (SQ rated) and on clearance for $5/qt or so, I'm not sure why they're trying to wipe out stock in this situation, maybe artificially driving up the perceptions of a shortage to increase pricing on an inelastic good? Or just getting rid of the line entirely, who knows.
