I recently learned that in germany you cannot labelan oil as full synthetic unless it is group 4 or 5.

I managed to compare english & german PDS of the same product and sure enough Mob FS 0w40 is labelled as synthetic technology; similar to liquimoly, valvoline, motul (not the 8100 power range).

Yes old news.

Oil sold in germany needs to be 80%+ lab synthetic to be called "VOLLSYNTHESE".
Very few oils reach that requirement.

To say the least.

And beyond that, it isn't necessarily a quality label. It is a basic composition label which may or may not be reflected in quality.
Can we just shut this thread down now?

I mean before the real synthetic dead horse beating starts and then goes into all the "chemists" figuring oil out. And claiming a winner.

Well maybe we can have @kschachn list the last 50 or so repeated threads.

And the Chemists in lab coats producing that name brand Fully Synthetic Motor Oil in a lab ...

Hurry up Edgar !
The Boss needs 27,000 liters more to make this week's shipment to WPp for packaging

thanks kall for confirming my suspicion!
Agree, not all oil are created the same irrespective of label.

I will now always consult the german PDS first!
PS PETRONAS Syntium 7000 (probably not available in the us) appears to have a proper synthetic label
