Maybe in the USA but in Australia they're criminals and will try to charge you +$120AUD for 5L (close to double the retail!!!) Crooks.
 
No oil can meet all VW specifications.
For example, most gasoline and distributor pump engines take 502 and 505 oil, and most Euro oils meet both. They are typically 5w40 0r 0w40 with a tiny number of 0w30 oils. Some meet 505.01 for PD diesel engines.
For DPF diesels, VW 507 is specified, and the only oils that meet it are either 0w30 or 5w30.

There is no reason to do this. I have a '14 1.8t and I've had 3 samples tested by Blackstone. This engine, running a 502 oil, can easily handle 10k oci's. I'm even running a mid saps 502/505.01 oil and I could do 15k oci's based on my reports! Keep running that oil but switch to 10k oci's. For your peace of mind, send out a sample to be tested. You'll see.
