Oil + filter hoarders

I don't believe in stockpiling oil. The manufacturers state oil has a limited shelf life. But I'm guilty of stockpiling oil filters till the last time I bought a case of Toyota filters for my truck. I did the math and found that case will outlive me :(
Since I was a teenager, I’ve always kept a 1-1.5 year supply of filters and oil on hand. I’ve always done this to lower and smooth out costs by never getting forced to buy at full MSRP kinds of prices but the shortages during COVID were a wake up call. When others were getting bent over the barrel in the DC are, paying $60-90 for a DIY oil change during COVID because their viscosity, required certification, or filter was difficult to source, I was still conducting $12 oil changes.

Not a huge stash but this is what I have on hand:

Unopened bottles:
1L - Castrol Magnatec Diesel DX 5W-40 - SN/CF C3 DEXOS2 Full Synth
1L - Mobil Super 2000 Formula P 10W-40 - SN+/CF A3/B4 - Synth Blend
5L - Mobil Super 3000X2 5W-40 - SN/CF A3/B4 - PCMO Full Synth
5L - Penrite HPR 5 5W-40 - SP/CF A3/B4 PCMO Full Synth
10L - Valvoline SynPower MST C3 5W-40 - SN/CF C3 DEXOS2 Full Synth

Unopened store brand:
5L - Repco (Penrite) 10W-40 - SN/CF A3/B4 "Diesel" Synth Blend
2L - Repco (Penrite) 5W-40 - SN/CF A3/B4 PCMO Full Synth
8L - Repco (Valvoline) 5W-40 SP A3/B4 PCMO Full Synth

Left-overs (opened bottles / approximate):
3L - Mobil Super 1000X2 SN+/CF A3/B3 15W-40 Conventional
1.5L - Penrite Vantage 10W-40 SP A3/B4 PCMO Synth Blend
5L - SCA (Valvoline) 5W-40 - SL/CI-4 E7 HDEO Synth Blend

They are used by the following engines:
VW BTS 1.6L - around 3.5L each fill - current fill: Penrite 5W-30 full synth - negligible oil consumption
Nissan QR25DE 2.5L - around 4.5 - 5L each fill - current fill: Mobil 3000X2 5W-40 full synth - oil consumption: ~0.5L/5000km
Nissan VQ35DE 3.5L - around 4.5L each fill - current fill: SCA (Valvoline) 5W40 - SL/CI-4 E7 HDEO Synth Blend - oil consumption: ~0.5L/5000km + some minor leaks

Current plan for the next oil change:
VW BTS 1.6L - Mobil Super 3000X2 5W-40 or Penrite HPR5 for the future changes, considering that they both claim to perform at level of VW 502.00 and 505.00
QR25DE 2.5L - Valvoline MST C3 5W-40 for the next change as this is the newest car
VQ35DE 3.5L - SCA (Valvoline) 5W-40 - SL/CI-4 E7 HDEO Synth Blend to use up the left over in the beater

Contemplating doing the followings to get rid of the odds and ends:
1. Mixing up the followings for a more robust synth blend to be used in the QR25DE:
1.5L - Penrite Vantage 10W-40 SP/CF A3/B4 PCMO Synth Blend
2L - Repco (Penrite) 5W-40 - SN/CF A3/B4 PCMO Full Synth
1L - Repco (Penrite) 10W-40 - SN/CF A3/B4 "Diesel" Synth Blend

2. Mixing up the followings for the beater VQ35DE once after next oil change with the VQ35DE:
4L - Repco (Penrite) 10W-40 - SN/CF A3/B4 "Diesel" Synth Blend
0.5L - SCA (Valvoline) 5W-40 - SL/CI-4 E7 HDEO Synth Blend

3. Mix the followings as a top up oil
1L - Mobil Super 2000 Formula P 10W-40 - SN+/CF A3/B4 - Synth Blend
3L - Mobil Super 1000X2 SN+/CF A3/B3 15W-40 Conventional
1L - Castrol Magnatec Diesel DX 5W-40 - SN/CF C3 DEXOS2 Full Synth

Oilaintoil, regarding your post (#204).
Mobil1 0W-40 European is all you need.
Mobil 1 in Australia seems to be significantly more expensive than other options though (e.g. we can get Penrite 5W-40 here for around $50Aud/$35usd for 5L while Mobile 1 0W-40 tends to go for around $120aud/$80usd for 5L).

My mechanic/shops are draining me DRY!! I've downsized A LOT !!! Down to

25 1 gal jugs of Delo XLE 10W30 blend
9 gallons of Delo 400LE 5W40 full syn
(5) 5qt jugs of Castrol Magnatec 10W30
Few KN, M1 and Motorcraft filters for my personal fleet

.............From my supplier I can get Mobil super 5000 blend 5qt jugs $15 with tax anytime I want so it's meh on keeping a stash unless its $1 a qt lol

It'd be curious to know if folks who hoard motor oil, do the same with other things? I think that it's been 2 full years that I have not bought motor oil and it doesn't bother me seeing those rebates, and doing nothing lol Before I insisted on taking advantage of the PP and M1 deals. As if I passed up a rebate I was missing out. No longer.

I have an abundance of motor oil, bourbon, and ammo. I change my Type R oil every 3k, I have a few pours a week and am an Infantry Veteran 🤷
