oil/filter for 1977 buick electra?

LOL My father had one that was passed down to my brother in the 1980's. I really recalling loving that big, yellow bomber. And they could really fit a lot of beer and people in them.

I'd also consider Mobil 1 High Mileage 10W-30 or 10W-40. But not if dumped at 3K...

If I lived in America and had access to 0w-40 M1 at Walmart I would use it in everything and never think about oil again.
That ole Buick never saw an oil like this before and I'm sure would run absolutely stellar,and the oil is 10000+ mile capable,couple that with a pure 1 and rock on.

Thats what I do.....but I use a bosch premium.

I would stick with the Brad Penn 10w-30 oil and change oil and filter at the first convenient place at around the 3500 to 4000 miles or so and enjoy the trip. Your OCI routine / regime is not that sinister.

I tried the switch to M1 0w-40 and then Redline 10w-30 and others and ended up with oil leaks when the BITOG synthetic (PAO) fad in 2004/5 was at all time high.

I wish had stuck to the oil that had been in there for the first 90000 kilometres.

After 10 years surfing this site I like what Warren Buffet says only gamble with what you know.

they were both good engines not much power compared to the 1970 version of the 455 but nice car anyway you look at it.

If you're only concerned about the filter, pick up a Wix XP or Purolator Synthetic in your size and spin that on for the trip. If it's going to keep you up at night, change it while you're there.

I always think about fuel dilution, as engines with carbs tend to have higher fuel dilution than more modern cars. The 1970s smog gadgetry may make the problem worse.

That in mind, I don't know how much fuel dilution can happen before a problem arises.
