Toyota land cruiser oil/filter suggestions

I have a 2021 LC with the 5.7L v8. I am a big fan of the Amsoil filters given their efficiency ratings, but am open to alternatives (Wix, Donaldson?). I have started running the 0w20 HPL Premium pax car oil for a couple cycles so far and it seems fine. I have only pushed to approximately 7k on the OCI so far due to me not wanting excess fuel dilution (no proof on the first UOA with another pending), but want to appease the oil change gods/my ancestors/voodoo/etc and keep this thing on the road until I'm dead.

Seriously though, any cool options from HPL I should consider? I'm in NC and drive approximately 17-20k/yr. Mix of hwy/city miles is approximately 65/35. Minimal towing, minimal off road (for now). Thanks for your time.

Fram endurance is what I'd choose. You can use it for two runs and not be close to the mileage rating. As for oil I'd rather use their no vii euro 5w-30 in your conditions. But you can't go wrong using something like 0/5w-40 in it. I'm using that instead of the 0w-20 in my 6.2 gm and I'm still under powertrain warranty.

Are the endurance filters testing well and don’t have the QC concerns anymore? I thought I saw that on another thread. Maybe I’m mistaking which line it was.

What benefit does the no vii version give? Better in HTHS situations? Thanks again.

Something to consider is possibly fit for the Fram with the plastic endcaps. https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/stp-s10158xl-or-fram-ultra-xg10158-for-16-toyota-4runner.

I don't know if it was the filter, the 12k miles, or something else. I used a factory Toyota this time.

Before install and also what the Purolator Tech filter looked like after. Unknown mileage on that but probably close to the 10k or more.

Recently, I bought a Lexus landcruiser. I used the toyota filter. The consensus on the www.Ih8mud.com is Toyota OEM filter. I would not have reservation about Amsoil branded filters, but see no reason to use anything other than Toyota. They are cheap, and high quality.

on the 4Runner Toyota says 5k oil changes per MM but filter every other at 10k so they at least are good with that many miles for filter to survive (during warranty period).

It's good to know what miles you are good to with whichever oil/filter you choose. My Sequoia was good for probably 10k with M1 or PP and factory filter according to Blackstone UOA's. I kind of settled at 7500 miles back then and knew I could go more if life got in the way.

Oil and filter for me are cheaper than possible motor issues. I think maybe once in 45 years I have not changed a filter at the same time as oil since I'm under there anyway. That was even with needing to drop skid plates to change them.

I’ve been happy with the Toyota filter - and when I’ve cut one up, they’re very high quality. I plan to stick with the Toyota filter.

Toyota OE filters are good. Unfortunately there are lots of counterfeit parts that closely resemble Toyota OE parts. Make sure you buy from a reputable source. Filters on Ebay, Amazon, etc. might not be OE. Even though they might look like OE, and are marketed as such.

Good advice. Thankfully I don’t ever buy this type of stuff from Amazon, eBay, etc
