OCI Obsession and loving it!

Has anyone considered that the OP might be pulling our collective legs?
At least I hope he is.
You never know, but I bet its real. Lots of people want to tinker with their rides for fun/relaxation/etc.

An old (crazy) neighbor of mine power washed his F-150 every single day regardless of the weather. I saw the crazy old man out in a rainstorm with his powerwasher more than once. That guy was LOCO!

I use common sense
my TGDI outback which gets 3mile trips all winter GUZZLES gas warming up
even gets a few remote starts a week. (just 2-3min while I walk across the lot)
so an OCI after 4 months at ~3000 miles is not absurd.

The wife's port injected elantra gets 6month 5000 mile oci's or when conveniently close to that.

If my engine(s), driving profile, or car warranty allowed.... I'd have no issues running 10k mile OCI's

I am sure ALOT of us BITOGERS get the itch after 3K miles. Personally, 5K OCIs are easy to remember and most off the shelf spec certified oils work well with it.

I don’t get the itch at all, in fact I felt guilty changing my oil today with just 5,400 miles on it 😬 But it was my first run with VRP so I knew I shouldn’t run it to the full interval that the oil life monitor would have suggested. The OLM said 60% oil life. I honestly feel better if I wait for it to get down to 5%. 😃

"Hey guys long time reader first time poster. So (ask all common questions that get threads locked)".
“Salutations! Need some guidance, gents! I only stop to check my oil level after 568 miles of hard driving cause I heard that is the best way to do it. Also using Triax 0W16 and Fram Drive on my late model Corvette Z06 every 11,837 miles. Am I doing this right?”

Hello all,
Figured I'd post this for a general census of the masses.
Not looking for any reprimanding on; you are wasting resources, or just flat-out ridiculous and Overkill.

I'm just voicing my oci as a cathartic and a process that I just enjoy performing on my 2024 Rav4 hybrid car, and mostly love the way it runs after a fresh change.

Does anyone else do there oci at or around 1K miles give or take.

I used to run all of the top name brand oils now I just buy a two Jigger, 10 quart box from Costco for $35 free shipping.
All of the reviews on their full synthetic 0w20 oil has been very good.
so I figure since I'm changing so frequently why not just go with a non name brand and enjoy what I do!

I should probably also mention I don't drive much Highway and I let the engine warm up probably too long, and I for sure can smell excessive fuel in the oil.
That's another reason that I have been changing so frequently but it's my obsession.

I know if I ran it on the highway more I could probably burn off a lot of that fuel. Anyway just wondering if anybody out there feels the same way, or am I the odd duck!
1,000 mile oci’s are excessive but over the years I’ve read a lot of other stranger things here…..

In 39 years of doing oil changes I have never noticed any of my engines running differently or sounding differently with fresh oil.

Your climate in southern California is warm year round, so letting a hybrid sit while in the “ready” mode, does not run the ICE. The ICE only runs when needed, such as recharging the HVB or when it is very cold. So how can you possibly let it warm up too long? Hybrids don’t work that way. If you ran your heat or a/c full blast while sitting the ICE would run more often, but not continuously, because the HVB would be depleted quicker.

People who own cars with CVTs need to learn your obsession but only when changing the CVT fluid......LOL.
.
Toyota and Ford hybrids use an eCVT which is a type of CVT. Unlike conventional CVT’s, both Toyota and Ford eCVT’s use planetary gears. No belts or pulleys. Therefore, transmission fluid change intervals are similar to a conventional torque convertor transmission. I have owned a RAV4 hybrid and currently own a Maverick hybrid and I have found the eCVT to be the best transmission I have ever owned. Like many of us here at BITOG, I have owned many different vehicles with every transmission there is. I’m an eCVT fan boy.
