Yes and yes - I ran only one OCI of 5W20 (oil cap stamp) when new before switching to 5W30 synthetic full time which was allowed by Hyundai (along with 10W30).

Not running 20wt or running to the recommended oci fixes both ends of the main problems.

I think severe service is 3750 miles/ 6 months. Regular service IIRC is 7000 miles / 12 months. Hyundai's definition of severe service is basically owning it (hills, dust, traffic).

As other said based on use conditions, I would run it as is for the trip and change when you get back. Make sure you check oil level before you go anyway and when you need fuel. For a feel good effect and some information for future, pull a sample when you change it and send it in (not Blackstone) and do a C&P of the filter to share.

Yes, run it. You are good.
VRP should be good for at least a year and if cannot make it to 5,000, it would be a shame for all the superlatives we talk daily about it.

I'm currently at 2,000 miles mark with that oil and plan to run it full 5,000 miles because I'm monitoring oil burning for that distance.
Also, we have people on here who have run that oil for 7,500 and even for 10,000 miles.

Good to note - I also failed to share that over the 3,800 miles / 6 months I’ve had to add close to one qrt. of VRP 5W30 make up oil , so there is that as far as replenishing helpful oil ingredients .
