Why does pennzoil not get much love in this forum? When someone ask for a dino oil recommendation, most people will say Havoline, Castrol, Valvoline etc...but seldom do i hear Pennzoil. Before the Mobil 1 fiasco, everyone recommended M1 over pennzoil platinum even though 1 uoa after another showed stellar performance by PP. Even with Terry Dyson's approval, not too many recommended it enough over M1. Granted PP is getting its due now but i dont see the same love for dino Pennzoil! Is it because people think its paraffinic wax based oil? old myths? What are your opinions.

Probably related to the fact that its somewhat pricy.
Its considerable higher than chevron or havoline in my area.

Rand has it. GREAT oil, but as good or better for much less dinero!

My '95 S10 Blazer has 215,000 mi with Penzoil. But if I got another lower mileage vehicle I'd pick sevral before PZ, just because of price.

Price point is the name of the game. Penzzoil is as good an oil as anyother conventional..but not so good as to derive the premium pricing..much like Valvoline it is to expensive for the performance we can find for less expense.

When I see it in a shrink-wrap package with Slick 50 it makes me think that I don't want to pour either one in my engine. If Penzoil is as good as Slick 50, and at such a high price I don't think it makes for a good deal.

SOPUS owns the Slick-50 brand, so they hope some that think highly of either QS or Penz will buy the package deal.
I've seem S-50 packaged with QS at Menard's.

Pennzoil gets the love round here, I think. Pinned up there is admiration for their tranparency on dating the production on the bottle in plain language. Pennzoil certainly makes their products available through various sales and giveaways. Except for a couple of sludge-jokers, Pennzoil gets plenty of respect.

My personal demonstration of love is the 36 bottles I have in stash of PP (new from the 2-for-1 sale) and 35 or 40 of the pre-groupIII PP from the Home Depot giveaways. Then there are 20 or 30 of various forms of yellow-bottle dino, high-mileage, and truck/SUV blended syn.

I like Shell/SOPUS, their gas, the oils, and lately have some rooting sympathy for the confiscation of their assets in the Russian gas and oil fields, which are being nationalized by Mr. Putin now that Shell has developed the methods of drawing product from those fields in Siberian winters.

Great company, SOPUS, and BTW, we're fortunate to have Mr. Johnny here, an old Shell/Pennzoil head to clarify our mis-statements and rumors..

I consider Pennzoil one of the best (if not the best) dino oil on the market. Castrol GTX and Havoline would also be high on my list.

Is there any reason to think PZ and QS don't come out of the same spiggot?

Find Rat407's $1.30 interesting,, best wholesale price I find is $2.47 buying 84 case pallet lot. Local dollat store is 2.45 and they never have more than 1 twelve pack.

The only thing that doesn't thrill me about Pennzoil is that they sell rebranded Frams at the quick lubes. Even a Champ filter would raise them higher.

But, in any event, I do run Rotella in some vehicles I own. Different name, same company.
