Sorry, I will not believe that it's a conspiracy until you post pictures of elves lurking in the bushes behind your house. . .quote:

Speaking only for myself, I don't think anyone's lying about this. Unfortunately, as a result of Castrol's frequently changing labeling and formulae, this is a potentially very confusing subject. Add to that the fact that this is a very popular product that is frequently discussed, and I also don't think it's unreasonable for those of us who follow the stuff to decline to rely upon a new, unknown member's verbal description alone of a possible change. Respectfully, pictures or numbers please!!!quote:

Yes, we need to see the specific "Made in _______" language. Post 'em and let's get this thing nailed down one way or the other. Thanks.quote:

The first run I collected M053366ATW45006 08:04
All of the above was post GC collections.
And as I expected after trying to educate the AZ guy about the age of the old '02 stuff I found on my last visit, with his assurance that that they would remove it from the shelves dur to it's age, it is still there.
Um, I did take pics of the three versions of the gold that I have bought. I have front, back and bottom images available if there is any need for them.
Er, I don't have images of the old '02 stuff or the AZ guy that lied to me, LOL! John
I too saw today GC Gold "Made in Germany" with that number on a reconn trip.quote:
... M06087...
That would mean that John's statement that "All of the above was post GC collections" is not correct. The M06087... batch is still "German Castrol". This is the sort of confusion that photos, back and bottom, will eliminate, for once and for all.quote:

Agreed.. You have to speak to a manager to get results. Some of their pay is associated with how well the store does. I scored 100 of those MX2T's that were sitting on a shelf with a quick discussion with the manager. Worked out to be 2.00 a quart. While "helping" the manager retrieve the MX2T, I also got several .99 Delo gallons, and a box of STP filters, "pre ecore", for .50 each.quote:

My son used to work at Autozone. Saying they don't care much and have terrible inventory control are both understatements.
They have no idea how old the stock is in a given store. Stock turns and inventory reorder points are what concern them. They only look at what's sold and that determines how much more they'll get in. So it's entirely possible a quart of US 0w30 could have been on the shelf of a given store since the day it opened.
They do other silly things with stock. Before my son left his store had cases of the Mobil MX2T in the back. But, since Mobil changed the name to Racing 2T and the packaging from pints to quarts, there was no longer any place in the store to stock the older stuff.
So it sat there for months, waiting for someone to decide what to do with it. Last he knew before leaving, it couldn't even be sold because it wasn't current product...
I tried to buy some MX2T right before my son left. I liked the pint bottles better and his discount was great. But, the "unstockable inventory" had gotten buried in the back somewhere and no one was interested in digging it out because the manager wasn't interested in figuring out how much it would cost to sell.quote:

BTW, I've checked the Saint Louis stores... no AC yet, but there is still green lurking in a few places...
