New truck! 2024 F-250 4x4

I've tried to deal with Burdick (Driver's village) a few times and always left disappointed. We did threaten to call the NYS AG office on the sales manager at the Nissan dealer. That actually got results.

Never dealt with Burdick Ford - but the owner of Burdick Ford doesn't get along with the sibling that owns the Driver's Village dealers.

To get the 7.3L, I needed to add other packages that were thousands $$$ more, plus $1704 to get it. I wasn't going to spend that much. My last truck was a 2015 Ram 2500 with the 6.4L Hemi. It had all the power I ever needed. This truck makes similar power, I'm happy with it.

NYH.
Can you tell me what the HP/Torque levels are this model year for that 6.8L?

Interesting that Ford now has the GM bedside and bumper end steps. Probably hurts a little to outright copy a feature but a good thing is a good thing. I use the ones on the GMC all the time.

Good looking no-nonsense truck. (y)
I often look at 50's, 60's, 70's, etc & when you look at the styling overall, between manufacturers, they were all copying from each other & certainly still do as you've nicely pointed out. I bet those bumper steps are handy & wished my truck had them.

I believe the 6.8L v8 is 405 HP and 445 TQ. My Ram was 410HP and 429 TQ. This one has the 10 spd. and 3.73's, my Ram had a 6 spd. and 4.10's.

The 10 spd. is geared lower than the 6 spd. was. I can't tell the difference in power between the two. So, I'm happy with the 6.8L.

The duratracs are a nice tough. Good looking truck. Congrats.

The 6.8 is a "mini" 7.3 correct?
same block, smaller displacement. they also use lighter materials in it, to improve fuel economy. its their everyday truck engine. if you're towing heavy day and day out, get the 7.3.

I like it. I didn't even know you could get that in an EC configuration. I know folks with my truck that have the plow prep have two alternators.

Thanks!

I really like the Duratrac's, they're the best "all-round" mud and snow tire I've ever used.

It's my understanding that the 6.8L has the same bore but has a shorter stroke then the 7.3L.

I know I'll get some flac but I think this newer Ford design is better than 6.4L. But it sounded like both have served you well. Thanks for the information & that is plenty of giddy up power.

Yeah, I heard the 6.4L's had lifter issues. I put just under 115k miles on it with no issues. The truck was awesome, just started to wear out. So, I wanted to try a Chevy/GMC or Ford this time.

Nice looking truck. You don't see too many extended cabs anymore. You also don't hear much about the smaller 6.8L. Mostly it's about the 7.3L. If I was looking to buy a new 3/4 ton truck these days, I would probably lean towards the Ford with the gas V8.
