New truck day! 2024 F150 4x4 V8 Lariat

Warranty the tailgate. Say it malfunctioned, which is not a lie, bc it should not have gone up with anything on it, it should have sensed the ramp only lifted a bit.

I just wanted to ask for an update regarding your break-in method. Are you going by the book or do you plan on taking a more aggressive approach with furious jumping over sand dunes?

I'm an old racer, what do you think I did :)

In reality, I did brief heavy throttle runs and worked my way up to longer full throttle runs through the gears by 1000 miles. Took a 600 mile trip today. While it was mostly highway, the engine did get a good workout and did not remain at a steady speed too much due to traffic. It is a gem of an engine! 1100 miles now, time for an oil change tomorrow.

This is all Ford says in the manual:

"Your vehicle requires a break-in period. For the first 1,000 mi (1,600 km), avoid driving at high speeds, heavy braking, aggressive shifting or using your vehicle to tow. During this time, your vehicle may exhibit some unusual driving characteristics"

$3000.00 + cost?
I said: "Seems like a great application for a backup electric oil pump. Latches on if oil pressure drops"
Although the design in the 5.0 is fairly simple and should hold up longer than 50K miles. There may be a market for such a device. It certainly does not have to be a long life setup.

Someone I know used an RC airplane outrunner motor to drive a small hydraulic pump. It is used in the L39 jet to operate the landing gear and brakes. It works perfectly.

The idea is to get the vehicle safely to the shop. Not to operate for years at a time. Let's say, 20 hours maximum. And 40PSI oil pressure.

I suspect if these belts become a serious problem on F150's the aftermarket will develop a master-link chain-like belt that can be installed by simply cutting off the old belt and installing the replacement. Coated chains and link-able split-belts already exist in some forms.

I love the grayed out FX4 badges. I thought the traditional red ones stood out too much so I ended up taking them off.
I pealed off every one of them. Clear stickers do nothing but advertise cheaply. They weren’t under the clear coat. Off they went!

I also worried about them cracking as they got older. I do think the gray is much more stealth.

It's too bad Ford hasn't went the way of Chevrolet with actual badges like they did for the Z71.

I have had several Ford trucks over my lifetime and loved them all. Yours is super nice.
