I have been looking at buying a new truck. I do light towing and my biggest concern is comfort for my 6'-5" frame since I am tired of folding myself up to get into my wife's hand-me-down Crosstrek that I currently drive.

My must haves include 4x4, cruise, and four doors but not much else. I have ruled out the midsize trucks and am narrowed in on the Ford F150. I like the 2.7 and the coyote would be ok but I don't want the 3.5. I visited a local dealer and they are $50k+ so I backed off.

Then I saw an ad for leftover 2023 F150s for 37k that clicks all of my boxes at an out of town dealer and it piqued my interest. I have inquired and am thinking about a fly&ride to buy a truck.

Am I crazy? Maybe you guys can talk me out of this.

Not in the loop on the latest issues but I'd imagine you'd want to buy an extended warranty? Looks like the billion other F150's out on the road but sounds like it would have the space for you to get in/out w/o much getting in the way.

If I were shopping for a gasser ford, it would be a used 6.2L F-250, or 7.3 new. Anything else is a compromise of some sort where the value was diminished.

The salesman said it was the 2.7 but I suspect that it's just the low-end 3.3. We are texting now and we shall see...
Honestly I wouldn't mind the 3.3. it's the most solid f150 motor. I wish the 2.3 was available for the f150. The bronco has that and the 2.7 and the 2.3 is still strong but gets an extra mpg and it has one bank and turbo less than the other EcoBoosts.

The 3.3 has 290HP without the added complexity of twin turbos so I'm ok with that.

If I was buying an F150 new, I'd get an STX in Atlas Blue Metallic. The one here has a 5.5' bed, I'd try to find a 6.5'

That's exactly what I was looking at for 50k but I could take one that's a year old in another color for the savings. I don't need or want the longer bed since it would be a tight fit in my garage and I have a low deck trailer with a ramp.

i wouldn’t be stuck dead in a ford product, but if i had to be, a 5.0 coyote powered half ton, or 7.3 gasser.

Ausfart, I dont have a dog in this hunt but if you don't need it right now maybe sit back and wait... as sales have slowed.

Ford F-Series & Ram Trucks Sales Decline Significantly: 1st-Half 2024 Truck Sales Report

I owned a ‘19 2.7, decent motor but it was a lease and I don’t know how long term it’d do. My ‘21 was the hybrid truck and kinda soured me on Ford. FWIW, both my ‘19 and ‘21 had strange trans oddities that I don’t think I could live with.

I did have a 3.3 truck as a loaner and for what it was, it had decent power. I would agree probably the most reliable of the V6’s. They’ve been making the Cyclone motor for a long time.

Have you considered any new GMs? I guess the 2.7 “Turbomax” has been a decent motor for them.
