Don't know why I feed the import Nut swingers...Guess I never learn...

What a troll. Must we go through this every time? Apparently it just doesn't get through your skull. Today's "american" cars are just as good as "foreign" cars. In fact, I think Ford is better than Honda and Toyota. And if you haven't noticed despite huge sales drops, GM still holds 20% of US cars on the road and is still top in sales if I recall properly.

It gets really old viewing the import vs domestic posts where each side digs their heels in claiming their side is the best and attempts to support their claims with anecdotal "evidence".

I can't wait for the next recall thread.

Every time there is an engineering issue with a popular consumer item the masses turn up for a witch hunt, especially if deaths are a result.

Anyone who's involved with engineering of any complex product whether it be a car or a submarine knows that performance and production issues and the resulting engineering changes are a simple fact of life.

This is due to the Walmart mentality of American consumers. A 2010 Toyota Tundra built to 1980's Toyota quality standards would cost at least $60k.

That says it all right there, notice, I didn't say Toyota sucked or had no class. I know they make a good car, some people just can't get passed the fact that somewhere in Toyota Land an Engineer made a mistake or a penny pincher cheaped out. You can only assemble what you are given.

Yup--- and everyone else will be laughing at you while you are on the way to the morgue.

Honestly, the sudden acceleration issues are most likely the result of the drive by wire transition Toyota is making at the moment. Having drive by wire meant that physical constraints that a mechanically linked system placed on the design of things were lifted, so engineers were free to do things that they could not do previously. As a consequence, they learned how not to do things through the experience of being the first ones there (as far as mass production cars are concerned).

This is a highly isolated issue in terms of vehicle systems and its existance has no affect on other vehicle systems that are performing perfectly, such as the engine, transmission, windows, etcetera. The only other issues Toyota has had with their recent designs was in transmission software, which I believe was resolved via firmware updates.

This notion that Toyota's quality has dropped to the level of other manufacturers because of these things is laughable. I find it incredulous that anyone here could think otherwise.

Whats laughable is that some around here ever thought Toy was that far ahead of other manufacturers. I'd take a Honda over a Toy any day. And none of my many Ford F series have given me near the problems I see with the enlightened among us who bought Toy trucks.

The HUGE difference between the toyota and other japanese nameplates as compared to the domestics is once the isolated problem is fixed you are left with a reliable, durable quality vehicle while with the domestic product you are stuck with garbage for the life of the vehicle

Just about everything GM makes now and since about 02 has been been Drive by wire. My 04 Silverado was, GTO's are, newer W-bodies, My Equinox is, My 03 CTS was. The cars involved in the recall were not the first mass produced ones there. The cars involved are all newer then when GM stared using it. It was first used in 1997 by the C-5 Corvette.
Man you really love Toyota, because the current system they have now, was not the first one there. Dosen't matter if it is there DBW or not, they made a mistake plain and simple.

You must not get out much.

Tell that to all the dead Mitsubishi owners. Read up on the Mitsubishi practices utilized in their homeland and you might be surprised.

Then again, dont bother. Your closed minded attitude is proven by your own statement.

I was under the impression that they adopted first, but who did it first is irrelevant. From a statistical standpoint, they are not far from where they were before.

I don't think anyone thinks Mitsubishis are good cars.

They are not ahead of other manufacturers. Honda is ahead of them at the moment.

As for trucks, only about 1% of the population actually needs them, so I do not think bringing them into a conversation about cars is relevant.

Not sure what you mean by that, but they seem to be the only company having a problem with unwarranted stuck gas pedals at the moment.
Keep making excuses for them, and you will eventually believe them.

Sure is when they are top sellers in the states and most of them are DBW.

I am not making any excuses. I am just keeping myself entertained by correcting what seems to be a popular bias here while I wait for some things I am doing to finish. It is not like anything we say in this thread will matter in the grander scheme of things anyway.
