New tool thread

Thanks, I have those. Issue was I couldn't get the end of the tool to grab the clamp because of the distance and angle of the clamp, and all the other "stuff" in the way.

Not accessible from the bottom?

I usually these two for the OEM constant-tension clamps - I rarely use my remote hose clamp pliers:

Didn't look like I could access the clamp from the bottom. I will take a deeper look tonight and report back.

Used these newly purchased hose clamp pliers last night. The tightest setting would not tooth gear lock, and the design is not anything close to a universal solution to hard-to-reach hose clamps. But I am glad to have this tool and am confident I will be using this tool in the future. This tool supplements my other hose clamp tools, it does not have the ability to replace them.
Yeah I got to researching them after you posted. I filtered for 3 star reviews at HF's website and found one guy saying they're soft and the teeth wore down for both him and his co-worker. Obviously, that sounds like more commercial use than you might accrue.

Lisle makes a set and a 35* angled set. They actually had the latter in a Warehouse Deal for $40, so I ordered. I put the straight ones on my wish list for Christmas

Is Lisle any better? I have no idea

It is hard to tell how much space you have, but these I found to be quite useful in areas where I couldn't get the Knipex hose clamp pliers into. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09YYSBLS2?psc=1
Channelock used to offer a fantastic pair like that but inexplicably discontinued. I have them and they're great but unless you sit around squeezing the hand strength things all day you're unlikely to get a bigger rad hose clamp with them. Better for heater hoses, vacuum hoses and small rad hoses.

Quoting myself....SnapOn offers the Lisles at nearly double the price! ~$93 vs $56 on Amazon!

The hose clamp in the picture looked like the perfect candidate for that tool,.

He was after the much larger clamp under the easily visible small one.
Ok got ya. Hard to see the position of the clamp from the picture. Those pliers might still work after getting the small hose out of the way from the top. Or using cable clamp pliers? Or getting from the bottom, which he hasn't determined yet.

Dad picked up this socket for me at Tractor Supply today. 15mm 12 point deep socket. I can use that on my Fords and Volkswagen lol. Don’t really like 12 point but a free socket is a free socket lol. They don’t even sell individual metric 3/8 sockets at either of my local Tractor Supply stores anymore. They done away with the 3/8 ones a couple years ago I guess because tractors and farm equipment are mostly SAE.

Some new tools showed up today. First up a Cornwell 3/4 drive 1-1/2 socket for dads truck. Bought a deep 1/2 drive one last week but wanted to get the 3/4 too because it’s a tight plug. Then a Sunex 7/16 square plug socket. That’s to change the oil in grandmas mower. I wish it was 3/8 drive but oh well 1/2 will have to do.
