New tool thread

The price is tempting............ I really don't need another ratchet. lol
The 1/4" version is also way cheap at ~$24, although I'm not familiar with the black ring on the back of the head?

edit: must be their QR button version? But based on the part # the pic may be wrong....I'd have to poke around Tone's home page to figure it out, which is how I've sorted their part #'s before

I have a feeling that black ring is to turn the socket w/o using it as a ratchet. A starter for lack of a better term.

Yea don’t really need it. But the infomercials got me. Eric O South Main auto YouTube with all his Astro tool stuff. I’m probably going to get the Long handle 1/4 next.
I love my SO long handle 1/4, use it all the time.

I have one, I couldn't resist the price. ;) It is more of a specialty item than anything else imo. In tight spaces where you might need a socket larger than 15mm, or something smaller that requires more torque than a 1/4" drive ratchet can handle, it fits the bill. Aside from that it most likely will spend a lot of time in the toolbox. For the money it is a good quality ratchet.

Good point about bigger sockets, though they make 1/4-3/8 adapters. Though that’s more bulky of course.

I have a stubby 3/8 for that kind of thing. I guess the 1/4 body is a good deal smaller though, which might help a lot in some cases.

My old battery-powered Energizer handheld work light bit the dust a few weeks ago. I picked up this new Kobalt rechargeable light today at Lowe's. My Kobalt cordless 1/2" impact works great so I hope to get the same good use out of this light. I paid $27.00 and change for it. It is very bright and really lit up my little work table when I stuck it to the side of my top box with the magnets. The magnets seem very strong and with the magnets, the hanging hook and just standing the light up on its flat bottom end I think it will work just fine for what I need.

Some 1/4" end mills, 5/16-18 taps, Lisle extra long angled hose clamp pliers (I blame @GON ) and a SnapOn T72MP multi-position ratchet in 1/4" drView attachment 154446
And be careful if you place those 30" pliers down while you are working. You might lose them like I did. Or at least don't take off a black shirt before using those pliers.

Adapters gobble up Z-space like PacMan, but whatever floats your boat.

Check out anvil size relative to the OD of the head -- it's almost comical. Regardless, if you've never wished for such a thing then you probably don't need it. I wouldn't be without it personally

Here is a package that arrived today. From our very own member @The Critic . I appreciate it very much. I can put these all to good use. Especially since I have to make up a tool kit for the new Camry. First up just some miscellaneous screwdrivers. Can’t have too many screwdrivers. Second is a CTA torque limiting ratchet. Something very cool that I haven’t seen before. Then a Gearwrench impact swivel and a 7mm 3/8 drive semi deep socket which I am sure I can use on my Fords somewhere. Then three Gearwrench swivel sockets 10,12 and 14mm 1/4 drive. And an AST pin which is for Toyota wheel bearing nut sockets. After that a Westling socket tray it says 1/2 metric. And an air hose coupler fitting.

Thanks again The Critic. Much appreciated.

It’s not whether I need it, it’s whetherI should procure one!

I really like the concept of these. I got a wiha torque limiting screwdriver, put a photo here and in my injection pump reseal thread. It’s really nice to be able to set a torque value and have it stop when you get there. You get a much better feel for when things are getting “tight” and an assurance that multiple screws get tightened consistently and evenly.

I’d suspect a ratchet would be very much the same for bigger fasteners.

Curious why you would need that. I love wrenching with 1/4, but then I want 1/4 stuff.

I have a stubby 3/8 if I want 3/8 with more torque.

Also have an adapter to go 1/4 to 3/8 if needed.
A 3/8 anvil in a 1/4" drive sized ratchet body seems to be a popular tool design. Koken is introducing 8 new versions of this type of ratchet this year, in a 72-tooth format.

You are very welcome. Glad to see that all items made the trip safely.

I stumbled upon these and thought they'd be a good addition to my toolbox. They're very thin pliers. I recall two projects I did recently where these would have come in handy. Under $25 shipped from AMZN Japan.

I just ordered one. $24.08. This is the first time I have seen Amazon-US offer items shipped from Amazon-Japan, but I have received numerous items from Amazon-UK.
