Perfect they needed the boot. Stores closing is not a bad thing .Big Lots closing stores and they are a discount retailer.
Some say they might file bankruptcy before the end of year.

That is a fantastic plan. It is near impossible these days to put tv on and not see things that make me cringe in fear thinking of the country/world we are leaving for our kids/grandkids. Either no one cares or the others are busy trying to destroy and eliminate anyone who does not march to their way of thinking. People should go back to how it once was and leave each other alone. If one cant get along they should go along! Go along down the road their way and leave others live their lives as they want to. Always more and more trying to control others. My sons both have told me there is so much trash on tv they can barely turn it on for fear of what their young kids will see. So they have to supervise tv watching.I’ve already reached my goals and helped my kids buy houses.
I would rather help them than spend it on unnecessary crap.
Staying busy will keep your mind sharp, not sitting on couch watching TV.
Maybe I will have a dog walking service… ?
Luckily I’ve reached my retirement goals and coasting into retirement, really no worries and almost zero stress. I also don’t watch trash TV and see things that get me upset.
actually, if your read FDR's statement on minimum wage you might reconsiderMinimum wage was meant for entry level / experience gaining positions. It was never intended as a living wage.
Having said that, I believe its still too low as it hasn't changed since 2009. It should be around $11 - $12. Which seems right since that is about what fast food starts 16 year olds at around here.
The market self corrects when its balanced.
I'm in about the same position. 6 years until I can walk away (tech job) and allow savings to supplement something part-time or full-time (not tech) to keep me busy. One kid will be 3 years into college and the other will be finishing high school.I'm almost there on retirement, another 5 years of high saving rate and then that amount can grow for a decade I think, with minimal contribution on my part (mostly to get free company match). Problem is, this 5 year period overlaps with one of the kids going to college. We'll see how that goes (wife has some medical issues threatening to get expensive too).
The government has no business dictating what an employer MUST pay his employees.actually, if your read FDR's statement on minimum wage you might reconsider
Quote " . "It seems to me to be equally plain that no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. Is that how they are spinning it? Mod pizza has always sucked in my opinion, and I’ve wondered why people would go there. Around here there are plenty of mom and pops with better pizza and prices. Also a couple chains (mountain mikes and crust) have infiltrated the area but I dont see them lasting too long.Goodbye Mod pizza
Victim of min wage
Humans do what humans do..like any other animal. If one human can get over on another they will. If we let humans do what they do there will be folx who will get paid the same as was paid to many in the south and some in the north years ago. A civilized culture does what it can to make sure one gets paid what their worth, not to be takin advantage of by those who can. Yea...I know..everyone thinks they are the only ones who works hard..everyone else are just slackers..The government has no business dictating what an employer MUST pay his employees.
No. Your opinion is exactly what I told my wife people would say.Is that how they are spinning it? Mod pizza has always sucked in my opinion, and I’ve wondered why people would go there. Not sure. To be clear, I'll probably work for 15 more after that, retire around 67--maybe I'll get lucky and can bow out sooner--but it'll hinge around getting health insurance for myself and the wife.I'm in about the same position. 6 years until I can walk away (tech job) and allow savings to supplement something part-time or full-time (not tech) to keep me busy. I haven't done a ton if research, but what makes sense for health care for a part-timer if, and most likely not, offered?
And as I told the last person who replied with the same FDR quote earlier in this thread - the original minimum wage adjusted for inflation in $5.25 / hour today.actually, if your read FDR's statement on minimum wage you might reconsider

He lied sure but mostly he used the American people as Guinea pigs. He thought and tried all kinds of things- most didn’t workAnd as I told the last person who replied with the same FDR quote earlier in this thread - the original minimum wage adjusted for inflation in $5.25 / hour today.
So FDR lied apparently.

Government people have hundreds of options. There is a relatively good cost share, but one could pick a lower priced plan with higher deductible, or a higher priced plan with more.Low is like what mostly only government people get. Zero (or nominal annual deductible) and a $10 copy. Expensive is what every gets, meaning < $1000 deductible (although normally several thousand dollars) and a 20% or more co-pay.
No. Your opinion is exactly what I told my wife people would say.
Their pizza and style is not meant to be standard shakeys - pizza hut garbage, neither is it meant to be real Napoli pizza. It is their own style. Better than many, not as good as real Italian (very very rare in the USA) .
Their style has lot's of employees when busy and they do get busy. Very busy. I will agree their menu sucks, never ever order from the menu. It's always been stupid, but their style. With Mod just have a custom and request it be loaded with whatever you want. Anyway, 6-8 employees at $20/hour in the food business, they don't need to spin that.
Restaurants failing left and right here, especially more than ever. C-19 killed many, true, some were just starting again and failed.Ridiculous. The competition is paying the same, if a business fails it is due to poor management. Rather it's service, quality of food, location that all falls on management.

I somewhat agree, they can jack up prices. That said, other places here are hurting, pizza places falling like flies around here. Min wage in WA is $16.28/hr. The cost of ingredients up as well, and people just won't pay that much for pizza. Point is you say comp is doing OK, well no, no they aren't.
Have you been there? Normal pizza place 1-2 people make a pizza, behind the counter at Mod 6-8 minimum. Yeah that is an expensive model, yes on management, but more like the original design not low/mid management.
OK, sure. Agree. But where does this concept fail? Heck $50/hour? Why not $100?Restaurants are always failing. If a business can't sustain paying it's employees $16.28/hr in a high COLA then they don't have a viable business model.
I fail to see where FDR lied... but I can see where the Congress failed to live up to the intent of the original law.And as I told the last person who replied with the same FDR quote earlier in this thread - the original minimum wage adjusted for inflation in $5.25 / hour today.

WA has the highest min wage and a new very high restaurant failure rate. People just won't/can't eat out with food so expensive.
Here is not exactly land of riches. Going to take smart managers to over come, or just less employees, maybe no employees..........full circle.
