I don't know about break in oil but I have bought three new Mazdas since 2009 including 2 skyactiv engines and ran all three to 5k on the factory fill. Engines broke in nicely and I get good uoa results using the Mazda with moly 0w20 and dealer oil filter. I'm still miffed about them no longer offering made in Japan oil filters though.

Mazda is one heck of an underrated company, except to the people who buy their automobiles, they learn real fast what a great vehicle they make. (dont let the secret out)

Just the other day one of my co-workers saw my car and complimented it. He didn't know what it was and I told him this is one of the most underrated cars in my opinion.

I heard that the new filters are coming out of Thailand. Is that true?

Mazda is very underrated. They have come a long way since the Ford divorce. We are looking at CUVs and the CX5 is at the top of our list. I'm waiting for the 2017's to get on the lot.

If the moly is "really high," whatever that means, it functions as AW.

Artem: You're right. It's still a black art, it would seem.

The new oil filters are made in Thailand. I believe they are denso units. They also had for a brief time one made in Mexico that looked like a wix to me. It had the same markings of a wix 57002.
The cx5 is a great car. I had a 2015 and I liked it a lot. I only got rid of it because my dog did some bad things in it and I was pining to get back into a manual transmission. I missed it more than I thought I would.

Follow the OLM and you'll be fine, even on the FF. No way I'd let a young kid learn to drive with a Miata. That's a tragedy waiting to happen. Let them get a few years under their belt driving a grandma car where they won't be tempted. My 2 cents.
