New Battleships

Yeah, this is really not that hard to understand. I’ve heard hand wringing in the media from the talking heads for years about the deficit in ship production we have, compared to the Chinese.

That’s why I’m surprised that we have a few folks who think these won’t be built.

It’s been a known issue for years - definitely over a decade.

Now, we’re finally taking some steps to address it, and doing what we should do, which is to enlist the S. Koreans to help us do it more efficiently.

Now, will the final product look exactly like what’s on the drawing board? Maybe not. Historically there have been many examples of projects being pared down from concept to reality.

But I have no doubt that they will get built, and will be impressive.

We’re living in interesting times (that old Chinese curse), for sure.

Yep - you start doing business with major ship builders - and soon you’ll know what a Change Order is …

I'm saying that's what the US Navy was proposing. The current plan would seem more like something that's being forced on them by civilian leadership.
Agree, this "Sitting Duck" is more of an idea than a real plan. It would be waste of our defense dollars.

Well, duh, there's a reason we didn't build Battleships in the preceding decades. The Military experts believe they are obsolete.

How is this ship obsolete?

Did you just ignore all the facts, all the posts describing this ship, and decide, on the basis of the a one word description, that we are building the Bismarck all over again?

So, how is this obsolete?

Actually - We don’t build much of anything on the marine front … certainly not efficiently …

Yeah, he’s ignoring everything you and others have said, and pretty much just trolling at this point.

Too Expensive and too Vulnerable to attack from Air....... From Sea.....From Under Sea.....and from Land. Numerous articles online supporting this Battleship Obsolete opinion. Actually, looking online, to defend from the incoming, the Majority of writers agree that Battleships are obsolete, "bypassed by technology" was one phrase. All interested can quickly look up articles online. Actually, I would be interested if you can find an article by a military writer explaining why battleships are not obsolete. I simply believe our defense dollars could be better spent. Hard to understand the reaction, among adults, over a simple difference of pro American opinions on defense spending.

All money wasting and no need for it, $ that could build up SS, and really do free medical and eliminate property taxes etc.
We already have the best of the best for war. Listen to JP on redacted or even Steven Greer, and there are plenty others as well.

We keep telling you that these are not really "battleships" but you're not listening. No 16" guns. Please stop imagining that they are in any way similar to the WWII vintage Iowa class ships. These will similar in function to existing ships, except bigger than the current classes and will be armed with missiles, primarily. They will help replace a soon to be retired class of heavy missile cruiser (Ticonderoga) and also have the capability of using more advanced weapons systems in the future that the old class of ships cannot.
