In theory, I believe the best crimps are made with a ratcheting crimper, using the same brand of tool and terminals to meet "code".
In reality, we seem to get by using lesser tools and terminals. But, I think people take for granted that excellent crimps require better tools, techniques, and terminals. I'm not even going to debate the details. Its akin to the torque wrench arguments.....theoretical book methods vs. real world results.
