Napa Gold - Made in China

They are the only ones I have seen that print on ...... but to skip the silicone outer gasket is definitely not normal for PG extended interval filters.
Do we know if it's actually silicone? Call me a cynic, but has anybody done the burn test?

No, but you should be able to find them with a search, or perhaps, since I tagged him, he'll chime-in.

I've seen the ones testing the black ones to see if they are silicone and failing.. but to be clear.. You are saying there are burn tests on reddish ones that are turning up black smoke??

Received some Napa Gold filters, finally got some of the Chinese manufactured amongst the USA made filters. Back to name brand WIX I go.

Interesting how the China made unit on the left does not have paint on the outer edge of the baseplate. The baseplates and anti drain backs are different also as mentioned by others. Makes one wonder if the media are different. Incredible how the plants are using different processes and different BOMs for the same SKU. Makes one ask, what does the NAPA (Wix) brand stand for?

Sorry, say what you will, the simple facts are that the Chinese are NOT our friends, cheat on almost everything they make, #1 counterfeiters of brands, have a horrible human rights record, and so much more. I make a strenuous effort to not buy anything from them. There are alternatives, sometimes difficult to find, but, for me, worth the effort not to add to their coffers.

You wouldn’t be on here if it weren’t for your Chinese electronic device lol.

No red or orange ADBVs (which will be silicone) have ever burned with black smoke. They are hard to ignite compared to nitrile, and once burning will give off white smoke and white ash.

Whip City Wrencher does a comparison in this video.

Yeah I have never seen that either.. this is what I figured . .. thought it was strange he was trying to make that point.

Don't think Overkill was saying that silicone ADBVs burn with black smoke from what I'm reading in his replies.

I mean the red silicone being something else... So what is post 22 about ??.. "Do we know if it's actually silicone" .. when I was wondering why they left the red silicone outer gasket off ??

"outer gasket" meaning the base gasket? Not as important to have a silicone base gasket as a silicone ADBV. Is the base gasket really silicone? Do a burn test and find out.

Even if the NAPA Gold filter is made by Premium Guard, that doesn't mean it should have a silicone base gasket like some Premium Guards have. NAPA specifies the build configuration ... NAPA doesn't make any oil filters themselves.

Could be for whatever reason.. but still the point is.. I was just curious about the red silicone outer gasket that are usually on PG xl filters of various brands.... and he asked how we even know if they are silicone in the first place..
