My roadside food pictures.

I grabbed a cup of what they call pot roast at New Leaf in Half Moon Bay before yesterday's afternoon driver. It's more like a stew with oversized pieces of pot roast. Ate it sitting at a table at a trailhead overlooking Alpine Pond off Skyline Blvd. I was eating the stew and the skeeters were eating me.

Many things cost less at WF than they do at the large chain supermarkets. It depends on what you buy. NL is similar to WF.
I suppose that is possible.

But for mainstream, mid-grade consumables - I don't find WF, NL or even many chain supermarkets to be competitive.

I'm sure a bag of chips and a box of Donettes will cost less at Grocery Outlet.

Costco is the standard I use...
My standard isn't based on the name of the store but it's based on the individual product. I like my 75 cent avocados from the roadside vendor just as much as I like my $10 cup of stew from NL.

The only reason I mentioned NL was because I thought somebody might be wondering where they can grab something to go when passing through HMB. After all, this thread is about roadside food. It's not about your particular shopping and eating habits. If you want to make this about thrifty shopping I encourage you to start a new thread.

I didn't want to get price-checked or price-shamed so I only ate a 39-cent roadside banana.

Aw, I'm just kidding, not only did I have overpriced chicken kebob with rice but I ate trashy fries. There are also a few felafel balls buried under the fries.

I went to visit a buddy and we had cafeteria Indian food. Thursday means Indian or stew. Great view of the Bay.

This is the chicken curry plate. Check out those peas. :ROFLMAO:

I blew it by not taking any pictures but my wife and I were in Maine this past weekend for my uncle's memorial service. We arrived late Friday night and left Noon Sunday. While walking around Freeport just outside of LL Bean, we came across a woman with a food stand on the sidewalk. She had a big grill going and her daughter was making fresh lemonade right there. We grabbed a couple of 32 oz iced teas and were about to leave when my wife says those hot dogs look really good. I said let's split one. We got it with mustard and grilled onions. It was great so then we split a cheese burger with grilled onions, ketchup, mustard and mayo. Also great. We spent the rest of the day at the service and with family. The next morning we get up, go see my aunt, say goodbye and head back to town to pick up some things to bring home and see that the food lady is up and running. Last thing before getting in the car to go home, we get a lobster roll, a sandwich called the Freeport Chicken Bomber and two iced teas. 44 bucks. Worth every penny.
The best part was when we got home and everyone would ask did you have lobster? Just one lobster roll. Everything else we ate came from this food stand on the sidewalk outside of Bean's.
Definitely worth a visit if anyone is in the area.

Very unflattering, mixed lighting in the coffee shop. An almond and pear tart and a sesame croissant for me and the much better half.
