My new car.

Apparently it competes with a Lexus GS. (So. Toyota Avalon)
and Acura Legend.

Wow.

Hey man, if you like it, that's all that matters. 👍

I may be one of the few people I know who likes liver and onions.

Why not just use the money to fix the Subaru instead of diving into some new unknown? The devil that you know...

And please have some dignity and pay the shop for the work they did on it instead of trying to find greener grass on the other side.

I am not going to stiff that guy. I do think it may be lining up that the Subaru may sit awhile.

What I ultimately DO with it is the only question; maybe it will be a backup car, maybe it will be sold. Maybe it will sit (in my garage.) One of those three, I would struggle to explain to you why I'm just not as into that car as I was last year...

Just my opinion, obviously, but It's one thing to have an old obscure car as a second or third vehicle. It's another to have it as your primary daily driver and not have the means or ways to fix it when things break.

And that makes sense.

Folks. I like this car because it's like an Unadvertised Special. I get to give it the once-over tomorrow, but it appears loved and seller says perfect condition. Being up close to car I only see a little rust part on a doorbell and none else. It's looking good so far.

Getting a feel, putting my foot in the water here.

So far I get the feeling BITOG ain't liking this one...

It would replace Subaru as primary.. that car is now lab rat and I may sell but I don't even know that yet. But if someone wanted to buy it? Yes.

I get to be inspecting it in about an hour.

Anybody wanna buy the Subaru?

Definitely. This would be a neat weekend car. Or sunny day car.

I have two 20 year old vehicles in the fleet. I'm only able to keep them going because the parts are cheap and plentiful ... they were common vehicles

maybe the Subaru will resume the lead.

But. Even if it does. It is in there for longer now...

A clean J30 is a nice car - basically a maxima of the same year wrapped up in different sheet metal.

I'm all for cheap beater cars, even if they're a non-descript, boring appliance to get you from a to b. However, the rear end of this car is so ugly I just couldn't do it.

common problems with the J30 include bad ABS relays, a sunroof that’s prone to getting stuck either open or closed, or not opening or closing completely, and leaking when it is closed. Carlos at Fuzzycats.com advises that while the sunroof can be repaired by an experienced DIYer, it’s a complicated job that requires the removal of the front and rear seats and headliner, will leave your J30 out of commission for at least the better part of a weekend.

Watch for flickering headlights caused by another bad relay – a problem that can be exacerbated by using headlight bulbs of an improper wattage. Power window regulators are prone to wearing out over time and cause the window to bind as it moves up and down. Power door lock problems are well-documented, too.

This Civic and this Vue were just posted 15 min ago :)

If you can get to Staten Island, this Echo would be great.

Although the Suzuki Aerio also isn't a common car, you can still get parts for it, and it will still be less expensive to upkeep than a J30. And it has a cool digital dash and a useful shape.

perhaps[s this it is a collection item and if you keep it for another 20 yrs you'll score big bucks :D
