My new car.

Doesn't do much for me but what ever floats your boat. Speaking of boats I was likely one of the few who bought a Lincoln Mark IV with a 460ci 4bbl in the '90's. As a teenager I always loved the old T-Bird and Mark IV so years later when I got the chance to get one in decent shape at a decent price it went home with me. Man that thing had a terrible drinking problem (gasoline).

I can't believe i'm about to say this, but Nick 1994 has a point.

Tracking down parts for old Japanese low production cars can be a pain, I got an Acura that needs an ABS modulator and it is gonna cost more than the car is worth if i can find one. Bet there are many more RLs on the road that J30's, if the parts are in common with other Nissans then you might be better off but I do not believe that car was sold as any other model in the US. It is certainly not an Altima or Sentra Im pretty sure it isn't a Maxima either. If it was a BMW of the same era there would be people providing parts, and a reasonable selection of people competent to work on it.

That said, there are certainly worse choices, and those were nice cars. Depending on what kind of life it lived and the price it could actually be an OK buy.

I don't understand how most people who cannot DIY afford to keep older cars on the road. I am thankful I pretty much only have to be able to find and pay for parts.

Did you catch in another thread about how he's thinking he might have to file for bankruptcy? I guess I've been lucky enough to be able to do some DIY and also to be able to find good mechanics that charge reasonable rates.

I bought the car now, so.. Love it or hate it, it is what it is.. I evaluated everything presented and now I just have to decide what to do with the Subaru. Maybe i'll choose one over the other, but I am not sure I see myself liking the Subaru more. We'll see... it's not abandoned. Also have to get that dent out on the side.
Got my fingers crossed, cleaned me out to get this one, and so far, yes I love it.

This car also never has to be inspected.. which is one added bonus. https://www.state.nj.us/mvc/inspection/aboutinsp.htm

Good morning everyone

^^ FWIW: The purchase was not made to "spite" anyone that told me not to, NOR for a "reaction" or anything. Not going to type too long because it is the morning and I have stuff to do, but I do also love having a rare car.. There's a bunch of reasons, actually.

So either take bets on when it gets destroyed (it won't) or let's keep this one going, as I intend to. it's really a classic Z with different interior and sheetmetal. And there's already one 300ZX enthusiast on here giving me great pointers on how to keep it running forever with very little upkeep and the right oil (10W-30) so should be fine.

Letting it run a CTEK RECOND mode one time because.. why not. Cold out. DOES have a new-ish actual Interstate battery, which is awesome. Let's get a great top-off/deep charge on it (if it even needs it.)

I am happy to have this car. 🚗

I didn't see enough reason not to get it.

Let's hope I made the right choice.. I also know I have options.

Covered up the VIN but showed you the cool Inspection Exempt.

Hmmm...ACTUALLY BUYING vs. just buying? How 'bout, I JUST COULDN"T bring myself to read 9 pages of posts even though I have no problem with someone buying an older car. If the mileage and cost was included somewhere above, I missed it.

BEST of luck with your new vehicle. It's all about how they feel and what you need. Is that a 'den' of snake oil? Cheers

Good for you,,,if it runs, and gets you to work,,,that will do,,,its not like your gonna keep for another 10 years,, good luck,,,our 1st car was a 67 Beetle,,,lol,,we were teased to death over it, but we drove 7 years,,,lol,,never a problem,,you most likely will own many cars,,when you do buy a new one post it here and dont forget,,,,say you all remember me,,,lol

Touche.

But. If the Subaru sucks now...

Okay how about this. WHY I LIKE THIS CAR:
1. Looks good (to me)
2. Condition (said to be) Pristine
3. I need a car and the Subaru hasn't been "returned to reliable service)" yet. It's more "Let's see how this turns out" status.

This would be my Daily Driver and it's basically an old Nissan Altima not Sentra...
Why are you spending $$$$ on junk cars ?

Pics, miles, condition, price?

Tried to post many pics but I can make a thread in Photo section about that.

Miles? 124,748 when I got it.

Condition? Very good/excellent (needs to be washed and cleaned.)

Price? $1,000 cash. Not off Craigslist or Letgo, either.
