I bought a "Lights of America" bulb at Wal-Mart... took it home, and it appeared more blue than white. Well, OK. But then, it died in less than two months. Sigh.
I did take it back and got my money back. Still...
It would seem that LEDs are the best of all worlds. Super cheap to operate, and supposed to last 10 to 20 years. On the packaging, it stated that if you ran this bulb three hours a day, it would cost 16 cents annually to operate. I spent 10X that amount to drive back and forth from Wal-Mart.
So anyway, if you're looking to try something new... maybe wait until the technology settles out a bit. Early CFLs were [censored] as well.
