Hit hard enough to roll my car over a median I was in park. The underside of the hatch where the spare tire sits is shaped like a V, and the roof is buckled at the top where the antennae is. Speed limit on the road is 50 mph, she admitted to going that fast and not having time to brake. It's no different than sideswiping someones mirror at 50mph,(doesn't mean the car will be totaled), it's all about the angle I was hit. Surely I wont waste any more of my time arguing with you experts, I'm sure it was possible she was going 47mph by the time she swerved. There is likely a ton of damage underneath, and both left rims and tires are trash, and it doesn't even steer straight.
Looked at some used Prius today, all were in crumby shape compared to mine, or were bare bones models. All of the halfway decent ones are 15-16k, I may just find something else for 10k, cause the 5k I would save buys a lot of gas. Mini Cooper maybe, who knows.
Sorry you are offended but a lot of this just doesn't add up??? No one is saying you are lieing about getting hit and no one is blamming you for the accident or anything. Just discussing what we see and what you have written.
I have seen a TON of crashes. I used to go write crash orders at body shops for the repair quotes( i.e. dealer body parts )and what that photo shows does not equate to a 50 MPH hit. Is it possible? Sure, anything can happen I guess but my educated eyes say it was 1/2 that speed. Unless that photo is at just the perfect angle to hide things it doesn't appear to be very bad. Certainly doesn't looik like a Jeep going 50 MPH hitting a parked Prius with the end result being the Prius totaled.
The damage shown just doesn't match the claimed impact speed. A corner hit like that( actually can be worse than straight on as it is easier to ding the frame ) going 50 MPH would have done MUCH more damage than that. You would have been spun around to face the opposite direction not just pushed over the median and no question there would have been far more visible cosmetic damgage.
She may have been going over 15 MPH but I just don't believe 50. More the 20-25 I said. Also, why were you in park in the middle of a 50 MPH road? Don't you really mean you were stopped and sitting there with your foot on the brake at a light or something? A 25 MPH hit, that startles you and cauuses you to ease off the brake, can easily cause you to roll over a median. If you were hit at 50 MPH in park it would have been much worse than it was.
If she was texting and not paying attention how does she know how fast she was going anyway? In the end what really matters is you weren't hurt. A car is just a "thing" that can be replaced. Your life can't.
Please understand nothing people are saying who question the details is meant as a personal attack on you. Just discussing the plausibility of the initial comments you made. They don't seem to add up. I think it is entirely understandable and even common following an accident to over state what happened without even knowing it. No one is or would fault you if that is the case. Completely understandable.
Again, what matters is YOU are not totaled.
