Musk Says Tesla ‘Dug Our Own Grave’ With The Cybertruck

I think the tailgate is just a door from a Frigidaire.

You understand and acknowledge that the Cybertruck will first be released in limited quantity. You agree thatyou will not sell or otherwise attempt to sell the Vehicle within the first year following your Vehicle’s delivery date. Notwithstanding the foregoing, if you must sell the Vehicle within the first year following its delivery date for any unforeseen reason, and Tesla agreesthat your reason warrants an exception to its no reseller policy, you agree to notify Tesla in writing and give Tesla reasonable time topurchase the Vehicle from you at its sole discretion and at the purchase price listed on your Final Price Sheet less $0.25/mile driven, reasonable wear and tear, and the cost to repair the Vehicle to Tesla’s Used Vehicle Cosmetic and Mechanical Standards. If Tesla declines to purchase your Vehicle, you may then resell your Vehicle to a third party only after receiving written consent from Tesla. You agree that in the event you breach this provision, or Tesla has reasonable belief that you are about to breach this provision, Tesla may seek injunctive relief to prevent the transfer of title of the Vehicle or demand liquidated damages from you in the amount of$50,000 or the value received as consideration for the sale or transfer, whichever is greater. Tesla may also refuse to sell you any future vehicles.

I have seen resale clauses on vehicles before, but they were always low production, high performance vehicles. The fact that this is here supports my position that the CT will be a low production model. Also, the first right for Tesla to buy the vehicle back and sue for liquidated damages is rather hysterical. What damages would Tesla have from someone selling their used car? Also, the CEO that is very vocal about "freedoms" is now restricting what you can do with your private property.

Ford did the same thing with the GT.

That's crazy. Waitlist limited-run cars normally have racing pedigree behind them or the manufacture. The CT has none of that.

Demand is a crazy thing. Pedigree sells special cars to enthusiasts and collectors. This is something else different entirely.

The Cybertruck is the most anticipated, loved vs hate vehicle right now. Rich people will pay stupid money just to get their hands on one.

I'm not sure why Tesla cares...

From recent information it sounds like 20-25% of deposits were put down by flippers early on to make a quick buck. I'm not sure how car companies can legally make you sign paperwork on what you can and can't do with a vehicle you own. Ferrari does this with their limited run hypercars as did Ford with the 3rd gen GT.

I think that’s common with most hard to get vehicles. I always route for those “investors” to get stuck with the bag.

GM does that ongoing, Corvette is an example.

It's strange how many on here root against a genius like Musk but are fine with the failures running the Big 3. I wonder why?
Yeah, there is a more obvious comparison that comes to mind - what have they done by comparison ?

Because the big three, at least GM is making a lot of money? I think the problem here is, like you, you refer to the failures of GM, yet GM is doing absolutely fantastic with record earnings but you are against them because they are slow to launch an EV?
Are you denying that the ICE is a way to power a vehicle that Americans love and Musk doesnt have and maybe he should?

and ... a product like Musks is forced on the taxpayers money being taken and given to purchases of his cars?
Yet, even with Musk, his ONE truck, YEARS BEHIND schedule far more than the big three but somehow that detail is left out?

Hopefully this helps explain an answer to your question.

Who said anything about GM failure ? I’m one of the few here that buy them and happy with that fact …
