I run a 2nd gen BRZ which sees oil temps up to 250 and now lower with an oil cooler.

This car suffers from oiling issues, so many run a thick 5W-30 with Mobil 1 FS 0w40 which is A40 approved and the official GR Cup car oil.

I want an oil that’s A3/B4 40 grade, carries A40, and Benz 229.5 certs. Does anyone know why this oil no longer carries A40?

When I asked motul they said if you want A40 I should try Motul 8100 X-Cess Gen2 5W-40. However FCP Euro doesn’t stock it so I can’t use their lifetime warranty.

What oiling issues do you have that you think will be corrected with a different winter rating and/or a grade change?

A "thick" 30-grade is going to have a very similar HT/HS to any other oil with Porsche A40 approval.

I want to stick with 0W-40 was just hoping to use the Motul one to save some dough with the warranty via FCP. But it lacks A40 so I’m hesitant as to why it does. Probably overthinking it though.

Ahh yeah the FCP Euro thing. I guess that if this was my vehicle, I wouldn't be overly concerned about A40 considering it still retains 229.5, 502 00 and Longlife-01. But maybe that's just me.

You may find some useful information in this previous thread:

If you are willing to pay for an oil filter you will not use you can get the X-Cess Gen2 5W-40 from FCP Euro in the bundles. You could also try the 8100 Power 5W-40. The X-Clean 5W-30 (C3) is probably good too.
