Hi everyone, just changed the oil in 2 vehicles this past weekend. My 1997 Ranger 4cyl, 83k miles seems really noisey. I can hear the valve train really good after the engine comes up to temp. This vehicle has always been on synth oil.
Should I worry? Would hate to dump good oil if
everyone thinks it will still protect my engine.
2nd vehicle 2004 Tahoe 4.8ltr does not seem to have this effect with the oil.
Any thoughts?

Thanks
Dean

Did you use the same viscosity?? I really doubt that its the oil. I guess I didn't realize motorcraft had a full synthetic oil. It should protect your vehicle as well as the synthetic.

Yes , it calls for 5w30. Yeah me too I was looking for something else when I saw a case of Motorcraft full synth for $23.00 at Murry's.
Thought I'd give it a try, feeling a little uneasy now though.

add a little VSOT (valvoline synthetic oil treatment, found at pep boys) and maybe it will help. some people report that it really quiets things down. just don't add too much or you'll have a 40wt oil in winter.
