. . .well sort of. Just thought I'd pass this one along for a laugh (and to have fun baiting all the Prius haters who were hoping for better). The CAN View unit I installed a few months back has fried itself. The system is a relatively easy install. You port the data in through the diagnostic plug. There's a power connection, and for cars like mine, in essence, you wire the CAN-V unit between the nav box and the display screen.
So what's the amusing part? In its death throes, the CANV unit somehow switched the entire car over to FRENCH language!!! So, since I've been absurdly busy, I had to drive around the last few days in a French Prius! I can assure anyone who has been wondering (yeah right...) that resetting one's Bluetooth, in French, is a monstrous PITA! And my car has been the derriere of more than one amusing comment. Perhaps this is some karmic justice for the French bashing which I have to admit I've indulged in some myself in the last few years.
Well, the good news is that after some tinkering and rewiring (essentially just taking the sick CANV out of the video display circuit), and reseting the computer, I have coaxed the car to once again speak English. Thank Goodness!
