Do a search here on BITOG for voa or check the PQIA website. Make sure they are recent.

The amount of moly depends on what formulation the manufacturer uses. Mazda has around 800ppm of old formula moly. Most major brands like Shell and Mobil use tri nuclear moly so you might see 50-80ppm.

Oils may have organic friction modifiers. Theseare not picked up by a consumer type analysis so the answer to your question regarding moly has many variables. It is not a cut and dry thing.

Btw, Toyota oil used to have high moly. iirc not anymore. Maybe too much mol y is over-rated! idk

If that were the case that formulas that omitted moly would cause immediate damage. They don't. Moly is an excellent FM, but there are others out there. There are also extremely robust oils without FM. Perhaps you are confusing moly with ZDDP?

What country are you in? Most dealers use a somewhat special blend of Castrol for the Skyactive motors when it comes to the normal oil. The other option is to just use the Mazda oil made for Skyactive. That is what I have been doing on my car since new. At 14k miles, it is happy as can be. But any name brand 0w20 should be fine. I am either going to be running Mazda 0w20 for Skyactive or Valvoline Synthetic maxlife. The Mazda 0w20 is a great synthetic made by Idemitsu which has done a lot of specialty oils for Mazda in the past such as for the rotary engines.

im from israel,the dealership uses mc blend for some reason.its always mazda ford togheter dealerships here.

the castrol magnatec start stop a5 got for mazda written on it but then again the specs required are very wide.from the israeli mazda manual-
islac gf-2,3,4,5 and api sg,sh,sj,sl,sm,sn.

A GDI engine will inherently be noisier due to the fuel injection system. That is under high pressure.

Good question. Just having dealt with several mazda's I have found that Mobil 1 tends to burn more than other oils. But Valvoline and castrol, my idle feels slightly smoother in my protege. I have 7 Mazda's in the yard that all experience similar loss of oil with Mobil that isn't experienced with other brands.

only the castrol stop start is up for the mazda spec have u used it?does the Mobil 1 Extended Performance evaporate as the non Mobil 1 Extended Performance,and what have u used in your mazda castrol or valvoline?
i tend towards valvoline for some reason.
