Does this stuff still have a dose of titanium in it? I've been trying different oils in my car to see what quiets the engine down the most and heard the oils with titanium in them seem to do a good job of that. I was thinking of trying this stuff, or one of the Castrol synthetics since both are readily available at my local WalMart.

I've had a couple of engines that had a little engine noise and it was odd how some of the pricier brands (PP especially) made them louder. My 2000 Explorer really loved MC oil but would have all kinds of valve noise with PP. I think you just have to try a few types to see what works best. Sorry I didn't answer your titanium question.

Yes Mobil 5000 still has titanium as a additive. Just use it over the Castrol Syntec doing so will save you a boatload of money and your engine will still be running when the body finally taps out.

As for titanium I don't know sorry.

Same increased volume when I tried it in my wife's '04 Infiniti.

Noticed no difference in my 2011 Ford Duratec 20 with it. Didn't get louder. Engine didn't get quieter with Pennzoil conventional. Not that it makes any noise

I should specify: My wife noticed it being noisier and asked what I did to her car. She doesn't know or care about autos, so I don't think it was entirely placebo.

My 1999 Taurus is whisper quiet on Mobil Super 5000 5w20 with an FL400s.

It was the only oil that quieted down My 1997 Altima's timing chain clatter.

my dad runs super 5000 in his 2010 f150 crew 4.6l 3v and it runs pretty quiet on it. The 3 valve modular fords aren't known to be super quiet and im impressed with how quiet his engine runs. I like super 5000 for the price.

The quietest oil in my armada has been valvoline synpower. I changed my 2008 silverado out to synpower from Pennzoil conventional when i bought it and it also seems slightly quieter. this isn't scientific however. also im not sure if minute differences in sound have anything to do with actual wear or longevity. You certainly can't go wrong with Mobil Super 5000

Mobil Super 5000 in the 01 3.0 Taurus , 01 Ranger 4.0 ,95 Tbird 4.6 with NAPA filters all runs quiet on it

Going to do a run of 5 OC's w/a home-brew blend of Havoline Oil. (1/3 syn 5w30 to 2/3 Conv. 5w30) Just did the 1st in the 1999 Protege. Exc. oil, IMO. It's a "sleeper" oil which looks very good in the PQIAmerica comparison chart of 5w30 oils. I've used Mobil 5000 many times and their Mobil Clean 5000. I sorta of prefer the Clean 5000 b/c of the add pack.

I'm on board here. Mobil Super 5000 is probably my favorite Conventional Oil and up there with Kendall GT-1 for most favorite overall. Especially after reading a few used oil analysis on here. Valvoline is a runner-up (old habit).

My Dodge Grand Caravan has run Mobil Super 5000 for the 90k miles I've had it. Just recently I got some NAPA Syn on sale for about the same as the Mobil. It has been quieter thru this run than it ever was on the Mobil.

As long as I can get the NAPA Syn on sale, I'll keep running it in the van. Otherwise, back to the Mobil Super 5000.

so far I've run valvoline nextgen 5w20, Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5w30, valvoline synpower 5w20, fram synthetic 5w20, valvoline maxlife 10w30, Pennzoil Conventional 5w20 and 10w30, and it currently has castrol syn. blend 5w30 in it. It was noisy on all the valvoline oil, with the maxlife being a little quieter than the others, but that may be due to the thicker viscosity. Quaker State Ultimate Durability wasn't to bad, but not as quiet as Pennzoil conventional, which seems to be the quietest oil so far, but did get noisier towards the end of the run. the fram stuff, which is made by conoco, was quiet too, but after about 3,000miles started getting noisier. The castrol in it now has been noisy from the start. Seems the oils with sodium based add packs like valvoline and castrol are noisier, where as the moly and boron based oils run quieter, but seem to get noisier near the end of an oci. this was why i wanted to try something with titanium in it just to see if there would be any difference. i know noise isn't an indicator of wear, and truth be told, if nothing really makes much of a difference, ill probably stick with valvoline products as they seem to produce good wear numbers, just wanted to experiment a little bit before settling on one oil
