Engine sounds different

I changed the oil on my '25 Big Horn with the 6.4 for the second time Saturday after buying it new in November. I changed the oil originally at 3,200 miles and this weekend at 7,050 miles.

The first change was with Mobil 1 in 0w-40 and this one was with the Castrol Edge 0w-40. Has any one tried these two and noticed what I did that the Castrol has the engine running significantly more quiet than the Mobil. It also seems to run smoother. There was feedback through the gas pedal when I had the Mobil in it that doesn't seem to be present with the Castrol.

Looking forward to your responses

Some will say you are full of poop with your observations and they will say you are comparing old worn out oil to new oil. My thoughts? I think there are differences in oils that results in different acoustics. Does that make one better that the other? I'll leave that to smarter people than me.

Plus comparing cold oil to warm, or to one with fuel dilution.

I guess we haven’t had a “Mobil 1 is noisy” thread in a while. Smoothness and feedback through the gas pedal are a bonus.

I've seen differences between oils myself now and then.
It's probably real and not all in your head.
I will add that new oil usually seems smoother and quieter than whatever I drained out.
See how this Edge seems after some miles.

It was an observation and the Mobil was louder when new too compared to the Castrol. But your cool 🤔

I went to look at a Vette a few years ago that I was considering to purchase used. He used Mobil 1 When he started it up it sounded like a sewing machine.

I have used almost exclusively Mobil 1 since the 90's other than with my 1500 following the suggestion in the owners manual. Not badmouthing at all it was an honest observation. Already feel like I should just delete this thread with the comments I have gotten.
I'm not badmouthing you. I'm no Mobil 1 fan and never even think of buying it.
If it wasn't pushed here I wouldn't even remember it.

Nah.

You’re not nearly the first person to experience this, however real or imagined it may be. There’s probably something to it, but it’s difficult to explain scientifically given the information anyone may have. “It sounds different” is about the extent of it. Not much to go on, but it’s too common to simply be bunk.

I agree. Despite what some members here try to say, I don't think everything that happens in the real world can be explained by science.

The only reason I asked was because I can't say in 42 years of driving I can think of a time that there was truly a noticeable difference until now. It was noticeable enough that yesterday going out for Easter dinner my wife commented the truck seemed quieter.
