Hey everyone. Just looking for a good oil for a 2017 Ford Fiesta ST. It's a TGDi, 29k mi and out of warranty. No specialty Oils that I would have to order please.
I've been doing some reading, and these are the 3 choices that I was thinking (and that are at my local Walmart). As of now I've been using Castrol EDGE Extended Performance 5w30 and sometimes the Motorcraft synthetic 5w30. The car does sit a lot in a garage and is only really driven 1 or twice every few months. I never go longer than 3k miles ir 6 months on an oil change Thanks!!

-Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 or 5w30
-Castrol EDGE Euro K 5w30
-stay with Motorcraft 5w30 Full synthetic

Esp 0w-30 is great. Euro K 5w-30 costs a buck more and isn't better formulated than Mobil 1 ESP 0w-30 and has to be ordered as walmart only has the SL euro 5w-30 on shelves but you can get esp 0w-30 off the shelf.
My Walmart actually had the Euro K on the shelf. Surprising. But it does seem there is alot more of the Mobil 1 ESP.

I'll have to check mine next time I go maybe they will do it nation wide. The euro k is more suitable for most cars on the road now than the sl one. Still at a buck more i'd rather buy esp. Esp 0w-30 is better formulated than Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 both in base and add pack.

Mobil 1 0w-40, hard for me to agree on a 30weight with it being a small displacement turbo high output motor.
True but both start at 3.5 hths and likely end up at the same 3.3 hths. The starting hths of motorcraft 5w-30 is probably 3.0-.1 and i imagine it shears to 2.7-.8

Still can't make up your mind, eh?

Nope. Never did make up my mind. But since I've only put less than 3k miles on this car since then, it didn't really bother me. Why did you include my previous post? Lol.

So am I not allowed to check back again in another few years to see if any better Oils have come out either? 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Is it really your job as a "staff member" to sit around and antagonize members? Is that what your life has boiled down to?

I go with the Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30. Also, if you're putting on less than 3k miles per year, there would be no harm in doing annual oil & filter changes.
Go a whole year? I thought the norm was 6 months? I dont mind changing it. It makes me feel good. Lol.

It originally calls for a 5w20. 5w30 is already going up a grade.
i run 5w-40 in my two accords that called for 5w-20 and they are simple N/A motors. you have a ticking ford time bomb that i would want the absolute most protection for. HTHS is important in turbocharged motors that make high amounts of torque at low RPM. not to mention the approvals that Mobil 1 0w-40 hold.
