Mobil 1 ESP 0w30 observations

Switching the VR&P topic slightly - I believe a max OCI using VR&P and a good oil filter is important . Run an OCI too long using VR&P and you will introduce deposits which you have been trying to clean . Unless all driving is interstate / highway driving - I suggest to keep VR&P OCI’s at between 3,000 to 4,000 miles … This is not an oil you want to play long drain games with .
I’m running 5k with no problems with R&P.

Agree completely. On my first OCI of VRP it was clear that the rate of cleaning was falling off pretty rapidly. As one would expect of a cleaning effect ostensibly attributable to a consumable additive. Of course one would expect the rate of cleaning to slow as the main agent gets used up and its concentration diminishes.

It wasn't as clear to me in the first OCI that the cleaning was slowing a good deal until I saw the massive increase in cleaning rate on the second OCI.

All that to say-- I completely agree with VRP is a standard or shortened OCI oil. IMHO it is NOT an extended OCI oil and it would be unwise to try unless you have worked up to it and you have an already very clean engine. If you have a very dirty or heavily varnished engine like my old Odyssey does, It's probably best to short OCI and work back up to whatever "normal" you use.

I'll change this 2nd VRP OCI when the OLM hits about 50%. That should be around 3k miles.
